The teacher designs and implements engaging lessons that prepare students for success on STAAR assessments and future high school mathematics courses. The teacher uses data-driven instruction, differentiation strategies, and collaborative planning to support all learners.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Curriculum ImplementationDeliver rigorous, TEKS-aligned mathematics instruction for 8th grade students.Develop and implement lesson plans that promote conceptual understanding, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning.Utilize a variety of instructional strategies including direct instruction, collaborative learning, hands-on activities, and technology-based learning.Prepare students for success on the STAAR Mathematics assessment.Data Analysis and AssessmentUse formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction.Analyze student performance data from STAAR assessments, benchmarks, Progress Learning or similar assessment tools, unit tests, and TEKS checkpoints.Track student growth and adjust instruction to meet learning needs.Participate in campus data meetings and PLCs to review student progress.Differentiation and Student SupportDifferentiate instruction to support diverse learners including struggling students and advanced learners.Provide targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities based on student needs.Implement strategies to support students with special education services, 504 plans, and English learners.Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.Classroom Environment and ManagementEstablish a structured, positive, and respectful learning environment.Implement effective classroom management strategies to maximize instructional time.Build strong relationships with students to support engagement and motivation.Maintain clear routines and expectations for student behavior.Collaboration and Professional ResponsibilitiesParticipate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).Collaborate with colleagues to analyze data and improve instructional practices.Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.Participate in campus and district professional development.QualificationsEducation* Bachelor's degree from an accredited universityCertification* Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Mathematics (Grades 4-8 or 6-12)Experience* Experience teaching middle school mathematics preferred* Knowledge of TEKS standards and STAAR expectationsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong understanding of middle school mathematics contentAbility to design engaging and rigorous lessonsStrong classroom management skillsAbility to analyze student data and adjust instructionEffective communication and collaboration skillsCommitment to student success and academic growthPhysical and Work ConditionsWork primarily in a classroom settingAbility to supervise students and remain standing or walking for extended periodsOccasional evening events or meetings
