We are an innovative, employee-owned company that aims to change our industry and the world through advancing technical products and services – and with our unique, people-centric culture.\nDescription\nAs an R&D Engineering Lead/Supervisor, you will oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team comprised of mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers working on varying product lines. You will guide the team, with guidance and direction from the Director of Product, through the design of new products per the Product Development Process (PDP) and ensure effective execution of product design from conception through sustainment. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate development schedules and setting the team up for success by aligning to the product roadmap, providing day-to-day direction, and evaluating the resources of the team as new product ideas are communicated.\nThe Research and Development team will report to this position.\nThis role requires a technically minded individual who is passionate about developing innovative products, wants to grow as a leader, and fosters a cohesive and collaborative environment. Proactive communication and listening skills are essential. StoneAge emphasizes leadership skills and teamwork across all departments. Continuous improvement in leadership and relationship-building skills is expected.\nThis position reports to the Director of Product with a starting salary of $105k-$115k per year (depending on experience). This is an onsite position located at our headquarters in Durango, CO.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nTeam Management\nSupervise and counsel the Engineering team, guiding them in their roles and assisting with determining the needs for career development and training.\nContribute to performance reviews and feedback sessions with team members.\nPropose annual merit pay increases based on performance.\nIdentify training needs and work with the Director of Product to suggest learning/development opportunities for teammates.\nDevelop and communicate team and individual goals and objectives collaboratively.\nParticipate in problem-solving activities and corrective actions for Engineering and interdepartmental issues with the guidance of the Director of Product.\nEnsure accurate timekeeping for the Engineering team.\nCommunicate departmental issues to the Director of Product.\nR&D/Engineering Leadership\nEnsure designs and gate reviews are executed per the Product Development Process (PDP).\nSupervise the Engineering team to ensure that priority projects are properly staffed and resourced.\nCommunicate project schedules, technical risks, and field tests regularly with the R&D Director of Product and Project Manager.\nCollaborate with Sales and Operations to identify and support product improvements.\nAlign with project milestones, schedules, and project definitions for team projects.\nSupport SolidWorks Admin functions.\nChampion the development and maintenance of regulatory technical data packages.\nContribute to the creation and maintenance of an Engineering Best Practices Manual and associated team training.\nAid in the creation of the annual R&D budget and manage projects within budget constraints.\nCollaborate with the StoneAge Solutions team on custom solutions that could become viable products.\nLead special projects or perform other duties as requested by the Director of Product.\nCompany Participation\nSupport Quality and Sales in the timely investigation, resolution, and reporting of design-related warranty returns.\nCollaborate with the Applications Engineering Team to review product feedback and identify improvements.\nCoordinate with the Priorities and Constraints team to ensure Engineering deliverables are on time and within budget.\nDevelop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's strategic initiatives, products, and services.\nCollaborate with the Breadware team on intercompany projects, providing engineering and technology guidance as needed.\nParticipate in Joint Management meetings.\nSupport and participate in StoneAge’s Continuous Improvement initiatives, applying LEAN principles within the Engineering Team and working with other departments on cross-functional activities.\nParticipate in Annual Strategic Planning as directed by the R&D Engineering Manager.\nRequirements\nKNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS\nRequired\nLeadership acumen and a collaborative nature.\n1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred.\nPassion for leadership and talent development.\nBachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).\n5+ years of relevant electro-mechanical design experience.\nCAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred).\nExperience with schedule creation and management.\nExperience in design for manufacturing.\nExperience in product research and development.\nExperience with regulatory compliance (FCC, CE, etc.).\nHands-on mechanical or machining experience.\nProficiency with MS Office software.\nCommitment to advancing the waterblast industry through safe and effective work practices.\nEmbrace and demonstrate the StoneAge “OWN IT” mindset and behaviors daily.\nBe a good teammate.\nPractice self-leadership.\nDeliver on the StoneAge/Breadware Assurance Promises.\n\nOTHER INFORMATION\n\nTravel may be required.\nExtended working hours may be needed at peak times or when short staffed.\nMust be able to stand for extended periods of time.\nMust be able to lift heavy loads using proper lifting techniques as outlined in the StoneAge Employee Handbook.\nWe value the diversity of the people we hire and serve.
