Yard JockeyWorking independently and exercising judgment, a yard jockey will be responsible for moving trailers to and from loading docks, perform safety checks, maintain paperwork, in addition to moving material around the facility.Essential Job FunctionsResponsible for operating gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination bringing trailer to loading docks to be unloadedResponsible for performing safety checks on the trailer including but not limited to lights, tires, locks, doors, etc. ensuring that the trailer is secure to be loaded and unloadedAssists other workers in loading and unloading trailers, while maintaining all paperwork for trailer and describing trailer contentsMaintains contact with dispatchers in order to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in scheduled delivery or pick upRequired to report any and all instances where functions were not performed accurately and recommend corrective measures. Follow all safety regulations required by OSHA and CompanyRequired to move material around the DC including hand deliveries to other areas within the warehouseMay be required to assist or work on projects that may come up within the DCOther duties as assigned.RequirementsEducation: High School or equivalentExperience: 3-5 years' experience in the field or in a related areaSpecialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: CDL Class A license that has an accident free record, with at least one year driving experience. May be required to be certified on: Electric Jack, forklifts, Turret, etc. Computer experience is preferredWorking Conditions: Distribution Center. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, pull and push for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.Other Skills/Abilities: Must be able to listen and communicate effectively and have the ability to follow specific instructions where high levels of accuracy and standards are already in place.
