In this role, you won’t just design solutions—you will influence winning strategies, shape complex equipment proposals, and serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers.\n\nThis is a high-impact, customer-facing role ideal for someone who enjoys engineering challenges, ownership, and working directly on revenue-driving opportunities.\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES (What you will do)\n\nWin the Right Solutions\nTranslate customer requirements (URS, performance specs, process needs) into practical, competitive, and high-value machine solutions\nDevelop conceptual system designs and configurations for complex packaging and automation systems\nPartner with Sales Engineers to position Filamatic solutions to win business\n\nDrive Technical Excellence in Pre-Sales\nEvaluate feasibility, risks, and costs to ensure solutions are both technically sound and commercially viable\nLead and consistently provide accurate system costing and scope definition\nLocate and collaborate with vendors of complimentary packaging and processing machinery to enable Filamatic to provide “turnkey systems”.\nIntegrate third-party/OEM solutions into cohesive system designs\n\nServe as a Trusted Advisor\nAct as engineering’s primary technical resource during the pre-sales process\nClearly communicate complex machine concepts to customers in a way that builds confidence and trust\nSupport product testing and validation efforts where needed\nYou will supervise the product test lab to validate that the equipment recommended is capable of meeting the customer requirements.\nYou will work with engineering to perform “proof of concept” prototype testing to validate machine designs prior to proposal submission.\n\nExpand Capability and Drive Business Growth\nIdentify opportunities where applicable that we can drive additional value and revenue through enhanced product and feature options.\nContribute insights from applications to influence new product development and continuous improvement\nDevelop and maintain strong relationships with OEM and automation partners\n\nQUALIFICATIONS (What You Bring)\n\nRequired Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or related field\n5–7+ years of experience in packaging machinery, preferably with manufacturers of integrated systems to the Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Diagnostic, and Cosmetic Industries.\nHands-on experience with systems such as:\nFilling, capping, labeling, material handling, or end-of-line automation\nProven ability to develop engineered solutions complete with detailed costing that lead to successful bids\nExperience in reviewing complex customer URS (User Requirement Specifications) and developing cost effective and creative solutions to satisfactorily address them.\n\nTechnical Capability\nStrong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, and electrical integration\nFamiliarity with PLC controls, HMIs, and automation concepts\nProficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics\nAbility to handle multiple projects/applications that are completed on time, are accurately costed, and satisfactorily address customer requirements.\nStrong understanding of liquid packaging machinery systems for the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Diagnostic, and cosmetic industries.\n\nWhat Sets You Apart\nExperience in regulated industries (FDA, cGMP, etc.)\nExposure to simulation tools, smart sensors, or process optimization technologies\nStrong commercial mindset with understanding of cost structures and system trade-offs\n\nHow You Work\nYou are customer-focused and solutions-oriented\nYou take ownership and drive work forward independently\nYou communicate clearly—translating complex systems into simple outcomes\nYou stay composed and effective in fast-moving, deadline-driven environments\nYou value continuous improvement and bring ideas to make the business better\n\nCompensation and Benefits\n\nSalary Range: $90,000 – $120,000 per year\n\nBenefits: 3 weeks of annual vacation, 10 paid holidays, 401(k) with company contribution, parental leave, and comprehensive health (3 plan options), dental, and vision coverage.
