This position is focused on the design and analysis of medium- and low-voltage power systems for industrial, energy, municipal, institutional, healthcare, higher education, and government clients.\n\nYou'll lead the electrical design of complex projects involving power distribution, standby generation, renewable energy, and utility infrastructure while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects including campus electrical distribution systems, power system studies, distributed energy resources, and microgrids, while helping mentor junior staff and contributing to the continued growth of our electrical services.\n\nThis role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working directly with clients, and taking ownership of projects from planning through construction.\n\nThis position is available from our Beaver Falls, Reading, Lancaster, or Pottsville, PA office locations.\n\nRole and Responsibilities\nThe specific responsibilities will vary based on the successful candidate's background and experience. Primary responsibilities include:\n\nPower Systems Engineering:\nDesign and specify medium- and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems for commercial, industrial, municipal, institutional, healthcare, and energy facilities.\nPerform engineering calculations to size and select electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, cables, protective devices, and associated equipment.\nPerform and review power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash analyses.\nDesign and specify standby and emergency power systems utilizing diesel and natural gas generators, automatic transfer switches, and associated controls.\nPrepare one-line diagrams, elementary diagrams, power plans, grounding plans, equipment layouts, and construction details.\nDevelop project-specific technical specifications in CSI MasterFormat by adapting master specifications and Entech standard templates.\nCoordinate electrical service requirements with electric utilities and assist clients in evaluating service upgrades and new utility connections.\nServe as the electrical discipline lead on multidisciplinary engineering projects, coordinating design activities and ensuring technical quality.\n\nControls and System Integration:\nDepending on project needs and individual experience, responsibilities may also include:\nAssist in the design of PLC-based control / SCADA systems for utility and industrial facilities.\nDevelop control system functional descriptions, I/O lists, communications architectures, and testing plans.\nCoordinate electrical interfaces between power systems, automation systems, and SCADA platforms.\n\nProject Delivery:\nPerform site investigations, field verification, construction observation, and equipment commissioning support.\nPrepare technical reports, engineering studies, and written recommendations.\nCommunicate technical concepts effectively through reports, client meetings, design reviews, and construction coordination.\nMentor junior engineers and designers through technical guidance and design reviews.\nPerform quality assurance and technical review of engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.\n\nAs experience within the organization grows, opportunities exist to contribute to proposal development, project management, client development, and the continued expansion of Entech's electrical engineering services.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nDemonstrated ability to independently lead the electrical design of multidisciplinary engineering projects.\nStrong understanding of medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems.\nExperience designing standby and emergency power systems utilizing generators and transfer equipment.\nKnowledge of electrical system grounding, overcurrent protection, and power system coordination.\nProficiency in preparing electrical construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.\nAbility to coordinate effectively with utility providers regarding electrical service requirements and facility upgrades.\nThorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable electrical design standards.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to mentor junior engineers and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.\nDemonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI-assisted engineering tools while maintaining sound engineering judgment and responsibility for technical accuracy.\n\nExperience with electrical engineering software such as:\nAutoCAD, Revit\nAutoCAD Electrical\nEasyPower, SKM Power*Tools, or ETAP\nSEL AcSELerator QuickSet, Architect\nMicrosoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite\nEducation and Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field\nApproximately 5-10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering\nActive Professional Engineer (PE) license\nValid Driver’s License\nPreferred skills and qualifications\nExperience in one or more of the following areas is desirable but not required:\nDistributed energy resources including battery energy storage systems (BESS), photovoltaic systems, combined heat and power (CHP), or microgrids.\nWho we are:\nEntech Engineering, Inc. provides planning, design, engineering, and consulting services for clients across a range of public and private markets.
