Design Assistant/Product Development Coordinator
Avalon Apparel is a women’s design house based in Los Angeles that creates private label collections for some of the biggest names in retail—you might even have pieces in your closet that started as an Avalon design. JOB Title: Design Assistant / Product Development CoordinatorPosition Summary: Supports product development and design teams by executing development processes, maintaining accurate product data, and coordinating sample and vendor activities. This role focuses on organization, follow-through, and ensuring timely and accurate execution across all stages of design development.Duties & Responsibilities:· Support execution of all samples for collections and sales meetings· Compile pre-costing information to support pre-production tech packs and costing processes· Upload and maintain all garment BOMs (trim, fabric, send-outs, pattern cards, washes, etc.) in Centric for both in-house and overseas development· Maintain line sheets, fabric books, and cutting ticket records· Assist with managing send-outs, including preparing POs/PAs and tracking vendor follow-up· Support communication with overseas vendors to track development progress and ensure timely updates· Compile and organize standards and quality requirements for product development hand-off· Create and generate tech packs for overseas development· Assist with follow-up on overseas development styles· Photo/tag lines and organize development and presentation materials· Support concept boards, Canva projects, and visual presentations· Prepare and send swatch packages to customers· Create shipping labels and coordinate packaging and shipment of samples· Maintain organization of development samples, materials, and records· Other duties as assignedNecessary Skills and Abilities:· 1–3 years of experience in apparel product development or related field· Strong understanding of product development processes within the apparel industry· Proficient in sketching· Basic understanding of garment construction, fabric, and trim· Familiarity with Tech Packs and BOM management· Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook· Experience with Centric, Spark, and/or A2000 systems is a plus· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously· Strong communication and follow-up skills with a sense of urgency· Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment· Ability to take direction, problem-solve, and escalate issues as neededPhysical Demands and Work Environment:· Frequently/Continually required to stand.· Frequently/Continually required to walk.· Frequently/Continually required to sit.· Frequently/Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.· Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.· Continually required to talk or hear.· While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-15 pounds.· Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: Computer; camera; rolling rack; cart with wheels.Benefits:Medical InsuranceDental insuranceVision insurance401(k) with Company MatchFlexible spending accountPaid Time Off (PTO)Pet InsuranceExperience:Apparel Product Development: 2 years (Required)Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hourWork Location: In person
