Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services.Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health and unit-specific data for process improvement initiatives.Conducts initial patient assessments within expected timeframes, initiates consults as indicated, and identifies patient/family teaching and discharge planning needs.Maintains safe practices by demonstrating unit-specific clinical competency and compliance with all regulatory standards. Ensures safe and effective handoff communications and documentation between caregivers.Communicates courteously with internal and external customers in person or on the telephone.Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Proficient clinical critical care skills and critical thinking skills with strong communication skills required. Basic computer skills and commitment to hourly patient rounding required. Previous EKG Interpretation Class preferred. Must possess frequent independent judgment and the ability to handle clinical situations requiring sound professional judgment and critical-thinking skills, including clinical assessment, data analysis, and patient response.
