Senior Python Developer – Advanced AI Systems
Position DescriptionThe Senior Python Developer performs independent, senior-level technical work supporting the design, deployment, and governance of advanced artificial intelligence systems used in defense, surveillance, simulation, and autonomous platforms. The position has technical ownership responsibility for AI model architecture, operational performance, and compliance within secure and regulated environments. This role supports government programs requiring strict adherence to DoD security, safety, and ethical AI standards.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAI System Architecture and OwnershipArchitect AI systems supporting perception, decision-support, prediction, and control functionsDefine and approve model architectures, training strategies, and deployment approachesEstablish system-level performance, reliability, and safety requirementsEnsure AI-generated outputs comply with approved operational constraints and protocolsAutonomous and Intelligent SystemsDesign AI components that generate structured recommendations, guidance signals, or control logic for autonomous and unmanned platformsLead integration of AI outputs with navigation, control, simulation, and command systemsEstablish safeguards to mitigate unsafe, unintended, or non-compliant AI behaviorModel Validation and OptimizationDefine testing methodologies, validation criteria, and performance metricsEvaluate model robustness, scalability, explainability, and operational readinessAuthorize models for use in development, test, or operational environmentsCompliance, Security, and GovernanceEnsure compliance with DoD regulations, data handling policies, and ethical AI guidelinesOversee use of sensitive or classified datasets in accordance with clearance limitationsSupport audits, technical reviews, and compliance documentationMaintain traceability and accountability across AI systemsTechnical LeadershipTranslate mission and system requirements into AI design decisionsProvide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineersCoordinate with systems engineers, analysts, and program stakeholdersRequired QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or related fieldMinimum 5 years professional experience in AI/ML system development and deploymentAdvanced proficiency with AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX)Expert-level proficiency in PythonExperience working with regulated, sensitive, or classified data environmentsPreferred QualificationsPrior support to DoD, IC, or federal civilian agency programsExperience with autonomous systems, robotics, or simulation-driven AIFamiliarity with secure, air-gapped, or restricted development environmentsKnowledge of AI safety, explainability, and governance practicesThis is a full-time, on-site position.
