Job Description Summary of PositionThe Part-Time EPR Technician is responsible for creating and processing ads, adjusting editorial and advertising images and processing commercial magazine pages. The Pre-Press Technician is also responsible for analyzing art in order to determine the correct application needed for optimum output quality as well as manipulating images so that the best product can be produced. The job requires multi-tasking in a deadline driven environment.Essential Duties & FunctionsExtensive customer service with both internal and external customersProcessing incoming remote ads and toning imagesTroubleshooting ad problemsProviding Quality Assurance Checks for all work performedProcessing Magazine and Commercial Print PagesMeeting Aggressive Deadlines in a Production environmentEssential Job Knowledge & SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent. College design degree a plus3-5 years in a Newspaper production environment requiredMust be knowledgeable with the following software: Cumulus, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Mac, Windows 10 and SCS Track. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to troubleshooting ads on deadline and meet tight deadlinesSkilled at manipulating scanned imagesKnowledge of wide format printing and cutting a plusPhysical RequirementsOccasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or moving materials weighing up to 45 pounds.Ability to sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods throughout the workdayVisual ability to accurately review digital files, color tones, image quality, layouts, and print proofs, including close-up detail work on monitors and printed materialsAbility to distinguish colors and detect subtle variations in tone, contrast, and image qualityAbility to safely operate standard office and prepress production equipment, including computers, scanners, printers, and proofing devicesCompensation The hourly range for this role is $25.64 - $34.21, commensurate with experience.Newsday Media Group is an equal opportunity employer.
