We have a culture of growth and achievement powered by innovation, supported by purpose and joy.\r\nBig-D Heavy Industrial has an opportunity for an Estimator to join their team in Tempe, AZ.\r\nExperience/Training\r\nBachelor's degree in construction management or engineering\r\n3-7 years' experience as an Estimator for an industrial general contractor\r\nConstruction field experience preferred\r\nCritical Skills\r\nGreat customer service skills\r\nExcellent computer skills, typing, Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam\r\nProficient in Timberline, Destini, OnScreen Takeoff, or similar estimating software\r\nConsistently produces accurate work and has excellent attention to detail\r\nGood time management skills\r\nProfit oriented\r\nClear written and verbal communication\r\nWork well in a team environment\r\nIndustry knowledge and aware of current market conditions\r\nRead and understand construction drawings and specifications\r\nDuties, Responsibilities and Expectations:\r\nDefines work scope and select subcontractors\r\nDevelops important relationships with subcontractors and considers the relationship when making decisions\r\nProficient in quantity takeoffs\r\nProficient in organizing and assembling estimates in Destini/excel\r\nSuccessful in hard bidding projects, organize scopes of work in bid day program\r\nBecomes proficient in conceptual estimating in the CM Process (Program, Schematic, DD, CD, etc.)\r\nUnderstands CPM Scheduling and can translate into construction budget. Clearly communicates with Subcontractors scheduling expectations.\r\nUnderstands means and methods of construction. Know the different labor productivity rates of these items.\r\nKnows unit costs of different construction materials and labor\r\nKnows overall SF cost of construction for different building types\r\nBegin working with superior in design build projects (conceptual estimating, working with architects in design, manage budget)\r\nUnderstands VE process and participate in working session\r\nCall subcontractors and develops interest in projects\r\nUnderstands turnover process and conveys project information comprehensively\r\nParticipates in forecast meetings and tracks budget vs. actual costs through construction\r\nLearns financial risk management with subcontractor bids\r\nSupports Big-D's mission and values as well as all policies and procedures\r\nBenefits\r\n100% Medical & Dental premiums paid for\r\nHealth Savings Account (HSA) with Employer Contribution\r\nPTO & Holidays\r\n401k with match\r\nLife Insurance & Disability paid for\r\nSupplemental Benefits available\r\nAdditional Job Information\r\nInterested applicants must submit their resume for consideration using our applicant tracking system.
