Join us for the 2026-2027 school year!Freedom Elementary is seeking a caring individual who would be responsible for providing health care needs of students during the school day in accordance with state laws and district regulations. This person would collaborate with other assistants and teachers to provide a safe, healthy learning environment for students.Position DetailsHours: 6.5 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)Contract Length: 183 days per year170 student instructional days4 holidays7 planning days2 extended daysContract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start dateEmployment Status: Full-time with benefitsEmployment Type: 10-month employee on the classified pay scheduleQualifications & RequirementsEducation: Must meet one of the following:48 college semester hoursAn Associate's Degree ORHigh school diploma plus a passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment Exam.Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.Compensation & Experience CreditSalary for the 2026-2027 school year will be based on Board approved salary schedule.2025-2026 Pay ScaleStarting Pay (Step 0): $15.98/hourExperienced Pay (Step 10): $19.67/hourWe value experience! Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired.New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.Payroll Note: While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary.
