General Job DescriptionPosition OverviewThe General Superintendent plays a critical leadership role in the success and growth of the company. This position is responsible for overseeing electrical projects from start to finish, supervising field leadership, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications and the National Electrical Code (NEC). The Superintendent leads by example, drives quality workmanship, and promotes a culture of accountability, safety, and pride across all job sites.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage electrical construction projects of varying sizes and scopesSupervise, mentor, and coordinate Electrical Foremen and field crewsEnsure all electrical installations meet engineers’ specifications, NEC requirements, and company standardsInterpret and review blueprints, specifications, schedules, and job ordersCoordinate with project managers, general contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, and other tradesPlan manpower needs and efficiently allocate labor across multiple projectsMonitor job progress, productivity, and quality; identify and resolve issues proactivelyEnsure materials, equipment, and tools are ordered, delivered, and available per project schedulesEnforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements at all job sitesIdentify potential hazards and take immediate corrective actionConduct job site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standardsMaintain accurate project documentation related to labor, schedules, and safetyCommunicate clearly and effectively with management, foremen, and field personnelMinimum EducationNoneMinimum Years Of Experience4-6QualificationsSpecific QualificationsMinimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical construction, with 2+ years in a superintendent or supervisory roleExperience managing a variety of commercial, residential, industrial, or institutional electrical projectsStrong knowledge of the current National Electrical Code (NEC)Ability to read and accurately interpret electrical drawings and specificationsStrong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skillsValid driver’s license and reliable transportationAbility to pass and comply with all safety training, background check, and drug testing requirementsDemonstrates safe work habits and proper care for tools and equipmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periodsAbility to work on ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and elevated work platformsAbility to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 poundsAbility to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and windManual dexterity required for handling tools, controls, and equipmentVisual and hearing ability sufficient to identify hazards and safely perform job dutiesLicense RequiredYesJob LocationsUS-IN-IndianapolisCompany OverviewIES Residential, Inc. is one of the nation's largest and most respected electrical, plumbing, HVAC, solar, and cable solutions providers for single-family homes and multi-family complexes since 1973.
