Its Louisiana facility produces active anode material (AAM) for lithium-ion batteries and plays a key role in strengthening the U.S. battery supply chain.Position OverviewSeeking a hands-on Lab Chemist to support the setup and operation of a new on-site coin cell laboratory. This is a critical hire that will enable in-house electrochemical testing capability.The successful candidate will play a key role in building the lab from the ground up, commissioning equipment, and supporting day-to-day testing operations. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in both the initial lab build-out and future expansion into a larger, centralized laboratory.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the setup and commissioning of a new coin cell laboratory, including layout, workflows, and processesSupport the retrofit of an existing space into a temporary lab environmentOversee installation, calibration, and qualification of lab equipmentPerform coin cell assembly and electrochemical testingManage daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficiency and data integritySupport broader lab commissioning activities across the siteProvide cross-training within the team and act as backup to the Lab SuperintendentContribute to future transition into larger, permanent lab facilitiesTechnical RequirementsDemonstrated experience with coin cell assembly and testing (essential)Strong background in electrochemical testing methodsExperience supporting lab setup, commissioning, or scale-up activitiesUnderstanding of lithium-ion battery systems, including both cathode and anode materialsFamiliarity with lab environments, pilot lines, or battery R&D settingsPreferred BackgroundCathode materials experience is highly transferable; exposure to anode materials is beneficialExperience within battery manufacturing, materials science, or chemical processing environmentsBackground in industry, national laboratories, or university research settingsQualificationsMaster's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline preferredBachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience will also be consideredCandidate ProfileHands-on, practical laboratory experience with a strong problem-solving mindsetComfortable working in a fast-paced, developing environmentAbility to take ownership of lab setup and operationsStrong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
