As a Senior Occupational Safety Specialist, you will play a key role in improving our Health and Safety Programs at our Jacksonville, Florida, shipyard site, while reporting to the Site Safety Manager.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nPartner with management, staff, and employees to promote and support a safety culture that prioritizes the well-being of all employees through our Safety Management System (SMS).\n\nDevelop strategies to remove or mitigate risks related to identified workplace hazards.\n\nLead incident investigations, collaborating with stakeholders to identify root causes, contributing factors, and implement preventive measures.\n\nComplete and submit customer incident reporting forms.\n\nCoordinate and oversee proper safety incident response including evidence collection, preservation and documentation.\n\nCommunicate findings, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership and subcontractors to ensure that safety concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.\n\nRequired Education, Experience, & Skills\n\nTypically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline, and four years’ experience applying safety processes in an industrial environment, or the overall equivalent.\n\nKnowledge of Safety and Health regulations and modern safety management principles.\n\nKnowledge and ability to apply incident investigation and causal analysis methodology.\n\nAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management, especially during high-stress incidents and emergency situations.\n\nAbility to act independently to quickly recognize when issues need to be elevated and additional support is required.\n\nAble to support travel of up to 10%; travel is typically local to the Jacksonville area.\n\nPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills\n\nCertified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)\n\nExperience with Process Safety Management\n\nManagement system experience (OSHA, ISO 45001)\n\nPay Information\nFull-Time Salary Range: $75,254 - $127,930\n\nEmployee Benefits\nEmployees scheduled to work 20+ hours per week are offered health, dental, and vision insurance; health savings accounts; a 401(k) savings plan; disability coverage; and life and accident insurance.
