We Want You!\n\nThis Electronics Engineer role will support the NISC IV program, to serve as project engineers responsible for planning and design activities to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) facility modernization and telecommunication projects. This position involves the development of project plans, project scopes, schedules, costs, and resource requirements and the development of drawings, specifications, and risk management documents in coordination with facility stakeholders from Technical Operations and Air Traffic organizations. This position is an in-office position five days a week located in Des Plaines, IL with a 30 % travel requirement.\n\nPrimary Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:\nPerform on-site surveys to develop “to-scale” designs and detailed reports.\nGenerate sketches showing relation of proposed installation in existing or new facilities with exact specifications and dimensions.\nParticipate in construction pre-inspections and final inspections.\nConfer with engineering staff and other personnel to identify and resolve problems with the design or implementation.\nCoordinate design components with a multi-disciplinary as required for site-specific modifications and new construction.\nPrepare and review AutoCAD construction drawings and prepare site-specific specifications and contract documents and independent cost estimates.\nPerform project management related tasks and communication (including safety plans, sequence of work, cutover plans).\nGenerate and coordinate the Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC), communication plans, project risk register, to meet Operational Risk Management (ORM) requirements.\nCoordinate and complete Work Permits required for potential impact to lead and asbestos that may be encountered during construction.\nParticipate in meetings inclusive of the pre-construction meeting and on-site construction meetings with stakeholders to coordinate with other ongoing construction and projects.\nPlan, schedule, and coordinate construction project activities to meet milestones and deadlines, working directly with stakeholders and contractors.\nManage and participate in on-site cutovers, testing and restoration of facilities.\nPrepare, maintain, and provide periodic updates of project to team, management, and stakeholders.\nPerform internal design reviews of FAA designed engineering projects.\nTrack and reconcile and coordinate closure of Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) on all assigned projects and provide recommended resolutions on all items related to engineering.\nReview project deliverables and provide verbal and written communication to the findings.\nConduct circuit analysis on new and existing equipment.\n\nBasic Qualifications:\nMust have an Electronics or Electrical Engineering degree and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent.\nWorking knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Engineering Scheduling tools and applications, and be able to use the Internet as a gathering and communicating tool.\nProficiency with AutoCAD / MicroStation or similar tools.\nAbility to effectively communicate in written and verbal form.\nAbility to accomplish clear and concise general and technical writing and tactfully coordinate with a variety of project stake holders, peers, and management levels.\nAbility to maintain an electronic project folder (as required) related to site preparation and equipment installation problems.\nWorking knowledge of telecommunication technology\nAbility to provide technical assistance and recommendations regarding the closure of construction-related punch-list items.\nAbility to work independently in a large Engineering Organization.\nBasic knowledge of multiple disciplines regarding their general requirements for typical standard types of projects.\nAbility to discuss project related items with stakeholders, contractors, and code related Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).\nAbility to work in a fast-paced team environment.\nAbility to obtain a Public Trust Clearance and pass a drug screening.\n\nDesired Qualifications:\nKnowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Assoc (NFPA) standards, National Airspace System Equipment Tower\nKnowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.\nKnowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG.\n(NASET), National Airspace System Equipment Building (NASEB)\nKnowledge of Corporate Work Plan (CWP) 4.1.12\n\nIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
