Ensuring residents remain as engaged, healthy and as active as possible is the priority of the position. This may include some time spent supporting AL and MC neighborhoods as assigned. The IL Program Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator carries out a specific set of tasks to fulfill the standards of Resident Programs as assigned by the Program Director.\nQualificationsEducation or training in a heath care field or certified as an activity professional by a recognized accrediting body, preferred but not required\nExperience working with seniors and those with memory loss strongly preferred.\nTwo years’ experience in activity planning for seniors preferred.\nTwo years’ experience recruiting and retaining volunteers preferred, must be personable with exceptional phone and communication skills\nMust be able to develop relationships and create partnerships that benefit the partner as well as our community\nMust have a thorough knowledge of social and psychological needs of residents.\nAbility to work without close supervision and to follow verbal and written instructions.\nMust be able to prioritize, utilize good time management and problem-solving skills\nValid driver’ license, with no major violations within 3 years\nMust have a working knowledge of and be able to utilize technology effectively.\nAreas of Primary ResponsibilityAssists the Program Director with planning, developing and preparing a variety of physical, social, recreational and educational events for Independent Living residents.\nManages transportation and resident outings for Independent Living residents\nAssists with the production of the Independent Living monthly calendar.\nAssists residents to be able to use digital programs & technology\nMaintains knowledge of communities, services, and events in the area and incorporates into activity schedule as appropriate.\nEstablishes a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents, volunteers and staff.\nMaintains an organized volunteer data base and documentation\nPromotes teamwork and positive attitude among associates\nContinually evaluates the quality and consistency of activities for residents and suggests adjustments, corrections, and changes as necessary.\nMust have a clean driving record, and be eligible to be ensured on the company driving policy, and be able to operate a large passenger van safely.\nMust be able to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis, as scheduled.\nOther duties as assigned\nPhysical/Sensory RequirementsMust be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job. This position requires a variety of physical demands, including the potential for lifting greater than 50 lbs. Long stretches on one’s feet, walking around is to be expected.\nThe IL Program Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator is a highly active position, with the person leading physical activities for the residents.
