This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex production issues, improving system reliability, and working closely with development, infrastructure, and product teams to maintain mission-critical applications.\nAs an L3 Support Engineer, you will be responsible for investigating and resolving complex technical issues, performing root cause analysis, implementing permanent fixes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our applications and operational processes. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong debugging skills, deep knowledge of Java-based enterprise applications, and the ability to work in production environments.\n\nPlease note: you must have at least 10+ years of experience with Java to be considered for this role.\n\nJOB RESPONSIBILITY\nProvide L3 production support for enterprise Java applications.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex production incidents, performance issues, and application defects.\nPerform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term corrective actions.\nAnalyze logs, thread dumps, heap dumps, and application metrics to identify issues.\nDevelop bug fixes, patches, and enhancements while maintaining high code quality.\nCollaborate with development, QA, DevOps, database administrators, and infrastructure teams to resolve cross-functional issues.\nParticipate in incident management, problem management, and post-incident reviews.\nDesign and implement monitoring, alerting, and automation to improve operational efficiency.\nOptimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.\nReview system architecture and recommend improvements to increase resiliency and maintainability.\nParticipate in on-call support rotations as required.\nDocument troubleshooting procedures, technical solutions, and operational runbooks.\nMentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership during incident resolution.\n\nEXPERIENCE\n10+ years of professional experience developing and supporting enterprise Java applications.\nExpert knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming principles.\nExtensive experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.\nStrong experience designing, querying, and optimizing relational databases (such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server).\nSolid understanding of system design, distributed systems, scalability, resiliency, and high-availability architectures.\nStrong SQL skills and database performance tuning experience.\nExperience troubleshooting production systems in complex enterprise environments.\nStrong debugging skills using logs, profilers, monitoring tools, and JVM diagnostics.\nExperience working with REST APIs and microservices architectures.\nFamiliarity with application servers, messaging systems, and integration patterns.\nExperience with Git and modern software development practices.\nStrong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and clean code practices.\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nAbility to work independently and manage multiple production priorities.\nInitiative and drive to do great things.\n\nABOUT THE COMPANY/BENEFITS\nPlan A Technologies is an American software development and technology advisory firm that brings top-tier engineering talent to clients around the world.
