Volunteer: Vigil Volunteer
The McLaren Hospice Program is a special kind of care designed to provide support and comfort for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Our hospice team provides services to meet the physical, spiritual, psychological, social and emotional needs of each patient and their family. We strive to enable patient's to carry on a pain free life and to manage other symptoms so that the last days with family and friends may be spent with as much dignity and quality of life as possible. ,McLaren Hospice is looking for compassionate people to sit with our patients during the active dying process and to provide a caring presence at the bedside. Your presence during the last days of a hospice patient's life can help to provide a peaceful transition from life to death. A Vigil Volunteer may provide companionship by simply being present with the patient who is dying without family members or friends available. They may also provide support to family members sitting at the bedside of their loved one. Please contact Suzanne Maurer at Suzanne.Maurer@mclaren.org for more information. This is a volunteer opportunity provided by VolunteerMatch, in partnership with LinkedIn for Good.
