Electrical Maintenance Engineer
This position delivers engineering and technical support across multiple internal functions, including operations, quality, and maintenance. The role serves as a technical lead for mid-sized initiatives and contributes expertise to larger capital projects. It has a direct influence on operational performance, equipment reliability, and capital spending, with substantial responsibility for outage planning, budgeting, and cost control.
The individual typically manages several projects at the same time, varying in scope and complexity. Responsibilities include overseeing contractors and suppliers, reviewing and validating technical designs, and serving as the primary technical authority for assigned work. In addition to long-term initiatives, the role supports short-cycle asset reliability efforts and provides hands-on technical assistance to frontline teams as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and execute asset reliability and maintenance strategies within the assigned area
Communicate equipment performance, availability, and key metrics to stakeholders
Apply engineering principles to diagnose equipment issues and implement corrective actions
Analyze downtime events and develop improvement plans
Coordinate procurement of parts and equipment required for projects and maintenance activities
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and technical staff
Manage contractors during outages and project execution
Prepare technical documentation and justification required for capital funding requests
Lead or support capital projects as a technical subject matter expert
Deliver technical training and ongoing support to skilled trades and operations personnel
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program
Experience working effectively in team-based environments
Proficiency with common engineering and project tools (e.g., CAD software, ERP systems, project scheduling tools, and standard office applications)
Ability to meet role-specific pre-employment requirements
Strong adaptability, learning agility, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to varied audiences
Effective organizational and time-management skills
Background or training in root cause analysis, project management, or meeting facilitation is beneficial
Experience supervising trades, contractors, or vendors is advantageous
Familiarity with unionized environments and applicable safety standards is a plus
Technical Competencies
Knowledge of AC and DC control systems
Understanding of motor and generator fundamentals
Experience working with medium-voltage electrical systems
Proficiency in PLC programming and system operation
Foundational knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance practices
Experience using computerized maintenance management systems for work execution and purchasing
Exposure to data acquisition and diagnostics tools for troubleshooting
Ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings
Understanding of machinery specifications, operating procedures, and technical documentation

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
