We are building a first-party webshops platform that lets game developers route players to browser-based stores instead of in-app purchases; unlocking up to ~20% additional margin versus traditional platform fees. You'll join a small, senior founding pod responsible for shipping the initial GA product and rapidly iterating it with real game studios.\nYou will own large pieces of both the player-facing webshop experiences and the multi-tenant backend services that power them. You'll work closely with a small team in a highly autonomous, AI-native development environment where using AI tools is expected.\nThe webshop is the player-facing surface of Unity's broader Commerce Management Platform; a new initiative that gives developers a single dashboard to manage their entire digital catalog, pricing, promotions, and payment providers across mobile app stores, web, and PC. More than 70% of the top 1,000 mobile games are already built with Unity, and the IAP SDK already manages their in-game economies. The web shop is what closes the loop: a branded, direct-to-player storefront that's natively integrated with the catalog and entitlements developers already manage through Unity, with Stripe as the launch payment partner.\nThis is a hands-on, product-minded role for someone who loves building from 0 to 1, moving fast with a small team, and shaping not just the code, but the product and the engineering model itself.\nWhat you'll be doing\nDesign, build, and maintain conversion-focused webshop front-ends and multi-tenant backend services with strong reliability and SLA expectations.\nEnsure end-to-end quality across the stack, including performance, security, observability, and maintainability.\nWork in a small team to ship the initial GA version of Unity's webshops product.\nRapidly iterate on features based on real customer usage and feedback.\nPrototype and refine features directly with game teams integrating the webshop into their titles.\nCollaborate with the team to shape requirements, propose UX flows, and influence the roadmap.\nTranslate high-level product ideas into concrete specs, technical designs, and shipped software.\nUse AI tools aggressively throughout the development lifecycle for coding, scaffolding, refactoring, debugging, and exploratory design.\nHelp the team define what AI-first engineering best practices look like in reality.\nHelp define the technical foundations that will support many shops and customers; i.e. multi-tenancy, configuration, extensibility, etc.\nInfluence how this effort evolves into a larger platform, organization, or dedicated product line over time.\nWhat we're looking for\nExtensive full-stack engineering experience, with a proven track record of independently building and shipping user-facing web products end-to-end.\nStrong front-end skills with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue), with attention to UX, performance, and conversion-oriented design.\nStrong backend skills building scalable, multi-tenant services and APIs, including reliability, observability, and performance tuning in production.\nComfortable working across the full stack, from database to UI; language-flexible, with Golang experience as a plus.\nActively uses AI today to enhance development and is excited to push the limits of AI-assisted workflows.\nExperience working closely with PMs to shape requirements and make tradeoffs, comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete specs, and inclined to propose solutions rather than wait for direction.\nGenuine interest in games and the gaming ecosystem.\nThrives in small, autonomous teams with high expectations and a strong bias for shipping v1s quickly.\nYou might also have\nExperience in game monetization, webshops, e-commerce (especially loyalty, personalization, or growth mechanics), payments and checkout infrastructure, or developer-facing platforms.\nAdditional information\nRelocation support is not available for this position\nWork visa/immigration sponsorship is not available for this position\nBase Salary Range: We determine the base salary range for this role based on your primary work location:\n\nZone A: $115,400 – $173,000 USD gross\nZone B: $130,400 – $195,600 USD gross\nZone C: $146,500 – $219,700 USD gross\n\nThis range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.\n\nBenefits\n\nAt Unity, we want our team members to thrive. We offer a wide range of benefits designed to support well-being and work-life balance.\n\nPlease note: Benefits eligibility, specific offerings, and coverage vary based on the country and employment status.\n\nWhile specific benefits vary, here are some of the ways we strive to take care of our eligible team members globally: Comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance | Commute subsidy | Employee stock ownership | Competitive retirement/pension plans | Generous vacation and personal days | Support for new parents through leave and family-care programs | Office food snacks | Mental Health and Wellbeing programs and support | Employee Resource Groups | Global Employee Assistance Program | Training and development programs | Volunteering and donation matching program\n\nLife at Unity\n\nUnity [NYSE: U] is the world’s leading game engine, powering play for more than 3 billion consumers each month. The top mobile games in the world, the most played PC indie titles, the most innovative console games, and virtually all of the top XR and Web Games are developed, deployed, and grown in Unity.
