This position provides technical leadership by partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, and customers to improve product quality, reduce variation, eliminate waste, and ensure compliance with AS9100, customer, and regulatory requirements. The Quality Engineer leads root cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, process improvements, and quality system initiatives while serving as the primary quality representative for assigned value streams.Position DutiesEssential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:Provide daily quality engineering support for assigned manufacturing value streams.\r\nLead investigations of internal and external nonconformances using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, RCCA, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).\r\nDevelop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).\r\nSupport Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition of nonconforming material.\r\nPartner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and improve process performance.\r\nDevelop and maintain Process Control Plans, Inspection Plans, and quality documentation.\r\nSupport First Article Inspection (AS9102) activities and product validation.\r\nReview engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure manufacturing compliance.\r\nParticipate in Engineering Change Order (ECO) reviews and implementation.\r\nPerform statistical analysis using SPC, Process Capability, MSA, and other quality tools.\r\nDevelop and monitor quality metrics, dashboards, KPIs, and trend analysis.\r\nMonitor scrap, rework, customer returns, escapes, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and drive improvement initiatives.\r\nConduct process audits, product audits, and layered process audits.\r\nSupport internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, including AS9100, FAA, DCMA, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements.\r\nSupport supplier quality activities, including supplier corrective actions, source inspections, and supplier performance improvement.\r\nCollaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on process validation, qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives.\r\nSupport New Product Introduction (NPI), process validation, and production readiness activities.\r\nDevelop, revise, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and inspection standards.\r\nTrain employees on quality requirements, inspection methods, and quality system procedures.\r\nLead and participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.\r\nEnsure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and company Quality Management System (QMS).\r\nPresent quality performance, investigations, and improvement activities to management and customers.\r\nSupport production in resolving quality concerns while minimizing manufacturing interruptions.\r\nPromote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.\r\nPerform other duties as assigned.\r\nQualificationsEducation & Experience:Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.\r\nMinimum of 5 years of Quality Engineering experience in an AS9100-regulated aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.\r\nDemonstrated experience supporting precision manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, molding, assembly, or special processes.\r\nStrong knowledge of AS9100D, AS9102, ISO 9001, and customer-specific quality requirements.\r\nExperience leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities utilizing 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis, or similar problem-solving methodologies.\r\nProficiency with quality engineering tools including SPC, Process Capability (Cp/Cpk), MSA, Gauge R&R, PFMEA, Control Plans, and DOE.\r\nAdvanced ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and ASME Y14.5 GD&T.\r\nExperience preparing and reviewing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in accordance with AS9102.\r\nExperience supporting internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, including FAA, DCMA, NADCAP, and customer audits.\r\nWorking knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, fabrication, molding, assembly, and inspection methodologies.\r\nExperience using precision measurement equipment including CMMs, optical inspection systems, and conventional inspection tools.\r\nStrong analytical skills with experience using Minitab, Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and data analysis tools to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.\r\nExperience developing quality metrics, dashboards, and performance reports to support operational decision-making.\r\nAbility to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple priorities, and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.\r\nExcellent written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills.\r\nDemonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.\r\nPreferred QualificationsASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), CQA, or equivalent professional certification.\r\nLean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.\r\nCertified AS9100 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor.\r\nExperience with PLM, ERP, and quality management systems.\r\nKnowledge of customer-specific aerospace requirements (Boeing, Collins Aerospace, Bell, Textron, Honeywell, etc.).\r\nExperience with New Product Introduction (NPI), APQP, and risk management methodologies.\r\nExperience supporting automated manufacturing, advanced inspection technologies, and digital quality initiatives.\r\nPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate machinery\r\nReaches, bends, twists\r\nRegularly lift 30-50 pounds\r\nRegularly perform repetitive tasks\r\nRegularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately\r\nSpecific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus\r\nPay range:$90,000 to $120,000 per annumOtherThis position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
