The Document Controller ensures that all controlled documents are accurate, current, properly distributed, and securely archived in accordance with established document control procedures and quality standards. Responsibilities Manage and organize engineering, quality, manufacturing, and project documentation in accordance with company document control procedures. Control the issuance, revision, distribution, retrieval, and archival of controlled documents. Process engineering drawing revisions and ensure current revisions are distributed to the appropriate departments. Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Control, Production, Purchasing, and Project Management to maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation. Maintain detailed document revision history and ensure obsolete documents are removed from circulation. Prepare, organize, and compile manufacturing record books, customer data books, turnover packages, and quality documentation. Monitor document status to ensure required documentation is completed and submitted according to project schedules. Verify document accuracy, completeness, formatting, and compliance with company standards before release. Maintain both electronic and hard-copy filing systems while ensuring document security and confidentiality. Assist with document retrieval during internal audits, customer audits, and quality inspections. Track outstanding documentation and communicate with responsible departments to ensure timely completion. Provide administrative support including scanning, indexing, filing, copying, and electronic document management. Assist in maintaining document control databases, logs, and tracking reports. Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending enhancements to document control processes. Maintain compliance with company Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and applicable customer specifications. Follow all company safety policies and maintain a safe, organized work environment. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the document control function and project needs. Essential Skills Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with document control processes, including document issuance, revision control, distribution, and archival. 1+ year of experience with document auditing or quality assurance activities. Experience working with manufacturing, construction, field, or inspection records. Experience reviewing and managing data books, revision audits, and inspection documentation. Proficiency with SharePoint for tracking data and managing electronic documents. Experience reviewing engineering drawings and participating in drawing audits. Strong skills in document review and data review for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Proficiency with Adobe and other tools used for viewing, editing, and compiling documents. Ability to maintain organized electronic and hard-copy filing systems. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling technical documentation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
