The Composite Wood Panel Process Engineer will collaborate with operations, research & development, and quality departments to optimize the manufacturing of interior door facings. This position will report directly to the Plant Quality Manager and will support the Interior Operations Leader and their team.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nPrioritize safety in daily activities and process changes\nChampion quality improvement initiatives\nMonitor and optimize critical to customer physical and aesthetic properties\nOwn the production line trial process and work in conjunction with R&D teams\nMonitor process KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement\nDrive continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and throughput\nLead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality defects\nChampion lean manufacturing initiatives and cost reduction efforts\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\nBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical or chemical engineering, wood science, or a related field of study\nMinimum of 2 years of experience in a wood product manufacturing process, 3 to 5 years preferred\nExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail\nStrong project management and organizational skills\nAbility to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams\nEffective communication and leadership skills\nKnowledge of lean manufacturing principles\n\nExperience Requirements:\n\nWood products manufacturing experience from one or more of the following industries or related fields:\nMDF, HDF, or Hardboard Manufacturing\nParticleboard Manufacturing\nOSB (Oriented Strand Board) Manufacturing\nPlywood Manufacturing\nEngineered Wood Products Manufacturing\nForest Products Manufacturing\nBuilding Materials Manufacturing\nCompression molding experience\nHydraulic press experience\nProduction line trial experience: planning and execution\n\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\n\nProficient in data analysis through use of Excel and Minitab or similar tools\nWorking knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies\nProficient in root cause analysis and corrective action processes\nExperience utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies\nFamiliarity with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)\nKnowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and process optimization techniques\nAbility to lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives\nDemonstrated ability to drive measured improvement in key areas of operations\nStrong technical knowledge and process capabilities\nBusiness and financial acumen\nStrong critical thinking and analytical skills\nStrong communication skills – comfortable engaging all levels of the organization\nHigh level of resourcefulness and creativity\nStrong integrity\nComfortable managing high levels of complexity\nVersatile and innovative mindset\nStrong prioritization skills\n\nAbout Owens Corning\n\nOwens Corning is a branded building products leader with three complementary market-leading businesses providing roofing, insulation, and doors primarily for residential markets in North America and Europe.
