Tax Manager

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:The Tax Manager is responsible for the strategic management and oversight of all global taxaffairs, ensuring compliance with complex domestic and international regulations. This roleinvolves directing all tax compliance and reporting (including the ASC 740 tax provision),developing and executing tax-saving strategies, and critically, managing and defending thecompany's intricate transfer pricing policies for its global steel production and distribution. Themanager also acts as the primary lead for all tax audits and cross-border transaction analysis,serving as a key partner to finance leadership to mitigate tax risk across all operatingjurisdictions.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Compliance and Reporting Direct and manage the timely and accurate preparation and filing of allinternational and domestic income tax, franchise, VAT/GST, and indirect taxreturns. Prepare and review the quarterly and annual income tax provision (ASC 740/IAS for financial reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and proper documentationof tax accounts. Strategy and Planning Develop, implement, and maintain strategic tax planning initiatives to legallyoptimize the effective tax rate (ETR) and manage global cash taxes. Lead and oversee the company's global transfer pricing strategy, includingdocumentation, modeling, and intercompany agreements for all cross-bordertransactions involving steel products and services. Risk Management and Audits Manage all tax audits and examinations by government authorities (IRS, foreigntax agencies), coordinating information and defense strategies with externaladvisors and internal finance teams. Monitor and interpret global tax law changes (e.g., OECD, BEPS, PillarOne/Two) to assess their impact on the company's operations and financialposition.SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs Set appropriate performance management expectations for direct reports Lead by example Encourage, and assist in sustaining correct behaviors Incorporate, facilitate, and embrace change Be receptive, and provide adequate feedback for developmental purposesMINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Master of Taxation (MST) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License is highlypreferred. 5+ years of progressive tax experience in a large corporate environment (preferablymanufacturing or international) or a Big Four public accounting firm, with significantfocus on international taxation. Demonstrated expertise in ASC 740 (Tax Provision) and Transfer Pricing documentation. Technical Tax Expertise: Deep working knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax law,international tax principles (e.g., foreign tax credits, Subpart F, GILTI), and global taxreform (BEPS/Pillar Two). Analytical & Financial Modeling: Superior ability to analyze complex financial data,model the tax impact of business decisions (e.g., M&A, new mills), and quantify taxsavings opportunities. Transfer Pricing Focus: Specific expertise in designing, implementing, anddocumenting intercompany transactions related to tangible goods (steel products) andintercompany services. Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency with tax compliance software, generalledger systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and Microsoft Excel for complex data manipulation. Communication & Audit Defense: Excellent verbal and written communication skills toeffectively communicate complex tax issues to non-tax executives, and proven ability tosuccessfully manage and defend positions during federal and international audits.PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED: Mobility in plant While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,walk, etc. The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Visual ability with or without correction Communication abilitiesHEALTH AND SAFETY: Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations Comply with company safety rules, policies, procedures, as well as job specific workinstructions and JSAs.
