Quality Engineer Richmond, VA Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour Job SummaryThe Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting product quality, customer issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives within an electrical manufacturing environment. This role involves analyzing defective products, conducting root cause investigations, implementing corrective actions, and collaborating with field service and manufacturing teams to improve product reliability and operational performance. The ideal candidate has strong electrical engineering knowledge, hands-on troubleshooting experience, and the ability to communicate technical findings effectively to both internal teams and customers.Job ResponsibilitiesEnsure adherence to electrical safety standards and maintain a strong commitment to workplace safetyCollaborate with field service teams and process quality engineers to implement containment and corrective actionsAnalyze defective customer-returned products and perform root cause investigationsPrepare detailed 8D reports, analysis documentation, and corrective action summaries for customers and internal stakeholdersVisit customer sites to resolve complaints, provide technical support, collect defective materials, and strengthen customer relationshipsCoordinate with service teams to obtain returned materials and support issue resolution activitiesPerform troubleshooting, testing, evaluation, and servicing of electrical distribution and control systemsSupport continuous improvement projects focused on enhancing product quality, reliability, and operational efficiencyRead and interpret electrical schematics, PCB assembly drawings, and technical documentationUtilize electrical and electronic test equipment including power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power analyzersSupport quality investigations, corrective action implementation, and process improvement initiativesMaintain accurate technical records, analysis documentation, and customer communication recordsCollaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, engineering, quality, and field service personnelDemonstrate accountability, professionalism, and commitment to safety and integrity standardsJob RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field requiredMinimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality engineering, or quality control environments requiredHands-on experience with transformers, PDUs, STSs, UPS systems, or related electrical distribution equipment requiredStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills related to electrical and electronic systemsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and PCBA drawingsProficiency using electrical test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and power suppliesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause investigation skillsExperience preparing 8D reports and corrective action documentation preferredKnowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, PPS, or related continuous improvement methodologies preferredFamiliarity with electrical industry standards including UL, NEMA, IEEE, DOE, and CSA standards preferredStrong communication and customer interaction skillsAbility to travel occasionally for customer site visitsExperience with Microsoft Power Platform is a plusWork ExperiencePrevious experience in electrical manufacturing, power distribution, electronics, or industrial quality engineering environments preferredExperience supporting customer quality investigations and field issue resolution preferredExperience leading or supporting continuous improvement initiatives preferred
