We help our clients meet their diversity spending objectives while also providing sustainable returns for our nearly 13,500 Iñupiat shareholders.By hiring Great People, we can provide Great Work to our highly valued customers, as we continue to grow an Extraordinary Company!WHAT YOU'LL DO:This position supports nightly bridge operations and requires safely convoy‐driving onto the bridge, parking in designated areas, performing industrial coating work, maintaining equipment, and returning with the crew at the end of each shift.Daily Routine:Perform pre‐trip inspections at the laydown yardDrive in convoy formation with crew and equipment onto the Oakland Bay BridgePark on the bridge and assist with nightly equipment and worksite setupPerform industrial painting tasksOperate, maintain, and monitor blasting and coating equipmentTroubleshoot and repair mechanical or equipment issues during operationsTear down equipment and convoy back to the yard after shiftComplete post‐trip inspections and required documentationKey Responsibilities:Driving & TransportationSafely operate commercial trucks, trailers, and specialized vehiclesTransport materials, and equipment in compliance with CDL, DOT, and FDT standardsFollow strict convoy protocols for bridge access and departureIndustrial Painting & BlastingApply industrial coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipmentPrepare surfaces through sanding, scraping, grinding, or blastingMix, handle, and apply coatings per project specificationsMonitor environmental conditions and coating cure timesSet up containment, tarps, and protective systems in accordance with environmental regulationsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work zone on the bridge deckMechanical Maintenance* Maintain readiness of trucks, blasting pots, compressors, pumps, and related equipment* Keep tools and machinery in proper working conditionInspections & CompliancePerform daily pre‐ and post‐trip inspectionsEnsure compliance with DOT rules, Cal/OSHA requirements, environmental standards, and FDT safety protocolsFollow strict safety procedures while working at night in high‐traffic zonesField Service Support* Conduct on‐site repairs during blasting or coating operations to minimize downtimeDocumentation* Maintain accurate logs of inspections, repairs, coatings, mileage, and fuel usageABOUT YOU:FD Thomas believes our most valuable resource is our family of skilled, loyal, and professional employees. Our company passion and purpose are to leave things better than we found them.In addition to your passion and purpose, to be successful in this Industrial Painter who drives the Truck, you'll possess the following:Required:Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain a CDLExperience as an Industrial Painter or abrasive blaster in heavy industrial environmentsExperience CDL driver is preferredStrong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, braking systems, and electrical systemsProficiency with diagnostic tools, hand tools, and equipmentUnderstanding of surface preparation and industrial coating techniquesAbility to work safely in high‐traffic, high‐visibility environments such as active bridgesAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and specificationsStrong commitment to safety, quality, and reliabilityUnion RequirementIf you are not already a member of the Allied Trades Painters Union, you will be required to join.
