Principal Research Scientist - Cancer Biology

Position OverviewWe are looking for a highly motivated PhD-level scientist with strong laboratory expertise to contribute to a priority research initiative focused on understanding cancer biology mechanisms through advanced cellular and molecular approaches. This role demands technical depth, critical thinking, and a hands-on approach to experimental science. The individual in this position will collaborate with a cross-functional team to investigate the biology of a novel target and support small-molecule drug discovery efforts. This is a strong opportunity to play a key role in early-stage scientific discovery within oncology. Title and level will be determined based on experience.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, execute, and troubleshoot in vitro experiments to evaluate target biology, pathway activity, and drug mechanism of actionConduct cell-based assays incorporating gene knockdown/knockout (siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR), overexpression systems, and pharmacologic modulationUtilize a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques to study signaling pathways, protein trafficking, immune-related responses, and genetic interactionsAnalyze and interpret experimental data with a focus on accuracy, reproducibility, and mechanistic understandingCollaborate closely with project teams to ensure experimental strategies align with broader research and therapeutic goalsPresent data and insights effectively in team settings and contribute to ongoing program direction and planningQualificationsPhD in cancer biology, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related scientific disciplinePostdoctoral training or 4–8 years of industry experience is preferredProven ability to independently design and carry out hypothesis-driven researchStrong background in mammalian cell culture, viability/proliferation assays, and flow cytometryHands-on experience with techniques such as qRT-PCR, RNA isolation, Western blotting, ELISA, HTRF, MSD, and confocal microscopyExperience with functional genomics approaches and assay development for studying protein function, degradation, trafficking, or immune signaling is highly valuedStrong analytical skills with the ability to integrate data from multiple experimental platformsFamiliarity with data analysis and visualization tools is a plusExperience working with external partners or CROs is beneficialIdeal ProfileDemonstrates scientific curiosity paired with a results-oriented mindsetThrives in a fast-paced, early-stage research environmentAdaptable and comfortable navigating evolving scientific challengesEffective communicator who collaborates well across teams and contributes to a positive, accountable, and high-performance culture
