Chief Financial Officer

Vistar Eye Center is the premier eye‑care provider in southwestern Virginia, delivering advanced ophthalmic services across glaucoma, cornea, oculoplastics, pediatrics, cataract and refractive surgery, retina, and more.We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee financial operations for Vistar Eye Center and two related entities (property management and surgery centers). Reporting to the CEO and supporting the Managing Partner (Finance) and Executive Committee, this is a high‑visibility, high‑impact leadership role. This position is NOT remote based; incumbent will be expected to reside within daily commuting distance from our administrative headquarters in Roanoke, VA.Key responsibilities include:Financial Leadership & StrategyServe as primary financial advisor to the CEO and Managing Partner (Finance).Lead long‑term financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and multi‑year modeling.Develop and maintain dashboards and analytics for service line, facility, and provider performance.Support practice growth, acquisitions, and de‑novo expansion.Accounting, Reporting & ControlsOversee accounting operations, month‑end close, and financial reporting.Ensure GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.Manage relationships with auditors, CPA firms, banks, and legal counsel.Present financials to the Executive Committee and Shareholders.Ensure integrity of provider compensation and productivity programs.Revenue Cycle Management & Payer StrategyLead RCM operations including billing, collections, denials, and AR.Analyze payer contracts, reimbursement trends, and margin impact.Support payer negotiations and value‑based care initiatives.Ensure accurate coding, charge capture, and compliance processes.Governance, Risk & ComplianceSupport compliance with Stark, Anti‑Kickback, and other regulations.Assist with insurance, risk management, and contractual oversight.Provide financial insight for executive and board decision‑making.LeadershipOptimize departmental structure, talent, and workflows.Mentor direct reports to maximize leadership effectivenessExemplify Vistar's culture through example and collaborationQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field (required).CPA strongly preferred.10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.Experience in physician practice management, healthcare services, or MSO preferred.Expertise in healthcare revenue cycle, reimbursement, and physician compensation.Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder‑management skills.WHY VISTAR EYE CENTER?A collegial and mission‑driven work environment in an organization with a great reputation in the community.Competitive base and incentive compensation.Benefits package including medical, dental, disability, extensive vision benefits, PTO, and 401(k).
