DescriptionTravel: Intermittent Travel Required: 30- 50%Location: Independence, KYPosition SummaryThe Machine Tool Mechanic II is a senior-level technician responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex mechanical repairs, and major CNC machine tool rebuilds. This role requires deep expertise in precision machine systems, the ability to independently manage large-scale service projects, and a strong commitment to quality and safety standards.The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience with CNC machine tools, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to coordinate installations and rebuilds from start to finish. This position requires frequent travel, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and collaboration with customers, OEMs, vendors, and internal teams.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the subject matter expert for complex mechanical and machine tool issuesPerform major machine tool rebuilds, reconditioning, and precision fittingConduct advanced diagnostics on mechanical and electrical systemsTroubleshoot and repair machine tool components, including electronic circuitry to the component levelDismantle, rebuild, and reassemble machine tool subassemblies and complete systemsPerform precision alignment, leveling, scraping, and mechanical adjustmentsOrganize, tag, and document machine components for accurate reassemblyIdentify, repair, or replace damaged mechanical and electrical componentsCoordinate and complete full machine installationsIndependently plan, organize, and execute complex service calls and rebuild projectsTrain, mentor, and support lower-level mechanics and techniciansCollaborate with customers, OEMs, vendors, and internal personnel to resolve technical issuesMaintain accurate service reports and expense documentationEnsure all work meets company quality and safety standardsMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work environmentTravel to customer facilities with limited noticePerform additional duties as assignedQualifications & Requirements5+ years of advanced CNC machine tool mechanical experienceExpert-level knowledge of mechanical systems, machine components, and precision assembliesAdvanced troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving skillsStrong understanding of CNC controls across multiple manufacturersProven ability to independently manage complex rebuilds and installationsExperience working with precision measurement and test equipmentStrong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to work with minimal supervision in high-responsibility environmentsWillingness and ability to travelPhysical RequirementsFrequent bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and reaching.Standing and walking 8–10 hours per day.Lift up to 60 lbs. regularly (with or without crane assistance).Push/pull up to 35 lbs. regularly.Climb stairs and ladders.Work on elevated platforms.Work in uncontrolled environments (noise, dust, dirt, mobile equipment).Work overtime and weekends as required.Daily and overnight travel (approximately 30-50%).Ability to use all limbs with dexterity and maintain visual/audio awareness of surroundings.Supervisory Responsibilities None.Equal Opportunity StatementKRC Machine Tool Solutions is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
