Linux System Administrator

Greystones is seeking a Linux Administrator to support the IRS in adapting to and utilizing data and analytical technology for generating groundbreaking insights and capabilities. This role will be essential in several key areas: collecting diverse and extensive data within the IRS mainframe environment, managing large volumes of data for various advanced analytics applications, and administering systems and technology infrastructure in a Linux environment to maintain a secure and efficient data and analytics ecosystem. Remote role with occasional travel to Washington D.C. Major Duties/Tasks: Assist with research and analyzing data on multiple platforms with different tools to advance Linux solutions in computing environments. Incrementally install, test, and maintain new OS patches, system software and software for analytics. Support creation of accounts, analyze system logs, manage incident response, and ensure system high-availability (five-nine) and optimize system performance. Document system processes, configuration, and other management changes and procedures. Create and deploy Docker containers and Kubernetes for open-source analytical tools such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, Python and more. Install, configure and deploy Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) services to create centralized authentication across heterogeneous platforms. Administer basic Linux operation system tasks for one or more servers in the desired computing environment to support new and on-going user focused analytic operations. Experience administering basic Linux operating system tasks for one or more servers 3+ years’ experience installing, testing and maintaining new OS patches, system software and software for analytics including SAS, STATA, R, RStudio, Python, Jupyter, and Kubernetes. Experience creating accounts, analyzing system logs, managing incident responses, ensuring system high availability and optimizing system performance. Experience creating and deploying docker containers and Kubernetes for open-source analytical tools.
