In this role, associates will grow in the Data Engineering track, providing development support on The Hartford critical data assets. The Tech Catalyst program provides a period of instruction to develop critical functional skills in areas directly related to your role, to build skillsets needed to participate in the entire software development lifecycle process in support of information data projects and grow with emerging technologies and processes.\nThis role is a hybrid position located in Hartford, CT and Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now and in future.\nOverall Knowledge\nYou must be a team player with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and possess the following qualities:\nInterest in data analytics, technology, and problem solving\nExcellent communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organization skills\nAbility to plan time and organize priorities, and pivot to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment\nAbility to self-learn new technologies\nWhat’s in it for you in the multi-week learning experience?\nParticipate in immersive instructor led training relative to data engineering and The Hartford’s best practices\nPartner with various parts of the organization to build a working knowledge of the organization, business, processes, and its customers\nBuild and utilize data pipelines build using Python, ETL, PL/SQL and cloud native technologies to develop data assets that support organizational decision making via prototyping, data discovery, profiling, etc.\nDevelop a network of associates to help grow your career and develop your talents\nResponsibilities\nUtilize tools such as Informatica, B2B, PL/SQL, Hadoop, etc… to develop data assets that support organizational decision making via prototyping, data discovery, profiling, etc.\nLeverage data mining and Business Intelligence tools to analyze large amounts of data identifying relationships and patterns within the data\nSolve a range of core business and technical questions through data analysis\nEngage in work that is guided by more senior members of the team\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree – May 2025 graduates\nA cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (out of 4.0 scale) at the time of graduation\nDesired majors include, but are not limited to: Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, and Business\nDesired candidates have prior Data Analysis and/or Data Engineer competencies\nProgramming experience in a college and group settings\nKnowledge of in SQL and at least one additional functional or object-oriented programming language such as R or Python\nDemonstrated history of manipulating and extracting value from various data structures and databases\nKnowledge of using GitHub for version control strongly preferred\nAbility to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams\nCurious and passionate with data and innovation\nUnderstanding of current and emerging IT products, services, processes, and methodologies\nCompensation\nThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
