Job SummaryLead the Human Resources function at Sheridan’s Random Lake print manufacturing facility. Manage the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies, programs, or procedures to improve organizational effectiveness, drive employee recruitment, retention, and engagement, and to support the company’s ability to achieve its growth and profitability objectives. The Human Resource Manager is a member of the SRL Leadership Team (L10).What You’ll DoEstablish productive relationships and maintain HR department credibility with management and employees at all levels as a positive, approachable, and effective influencer dealing with individual people issues or to achieve key business and people objectives. Partner with the management team to understand and deliver the organization’s human resource and talent strategy, both immediate and long-term. Staff the organization in a timely and cost-effective manner. Actively participate in regular business meetings with other company leadership to review business results, set goals, track progress, and solve issues. Collaborate with the company wide HR team to develop, standardize, and administer various human resources plans, policies, and procedures. Listens carefully to interpret employee and management concerns including complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues; maintain confidentiality; provide advice and methodology for problem solving to management and others. Promptly investigate and resolve any allegations or issues; recommend or implement disciplinary actions when such steps are necessary based upon investigation results. Staff the operation in a timely and cost-effective manner. Manage employee retention through appropriate hiring practices. Manages overall recruitment program for all exempt and nonexempt employees, students, and temporary employees; new-employee orientations; monitors career path program, employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing; writes and places advertisements. Track and report turnover statistics to determine if problems exist in specific departments or functional areas. Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for skilled, supervisory and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.  Implements and updates job descriptions as necessary; develops and recommends a merit program (salary budget) to management to be implemented in concert with an effective performance appraisal program; analyzes compensation for internal equity; monitors performance evaluation programs and revises as necessary. Analyzes trends in local talent market: compensation and benefits, workforce availability and trends to ensure the operation attracts and retains top talent.  Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.  Provides counselling and oversight on employee performance, disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.  Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.  Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Prepares information requested or required for compliance. Keeps supervision up to date with the latest legal updates. Actively assists managers and supervisors to resolve problems associated with personnel in their assigned areas.  Coach leaders in a variety of areas including company policy and legal requirements, hiring, performance management, employee training and development and dealing with organizational change. Establishes workplace policies, procedures and programs that includes workplace health, safety, security, career path programs, training, development, and performance management.  Manages administration of all HR recordkeeping and reporting, including all Affirmative Action tracking and records. Other duties as assigned.   Basic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree and 5+ years’ HR Generalist experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience Outstanding written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization. Solid computer skills (MS Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) Strong attention to detail and deadlines Strong analytical and organizational skills with mhe ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. SPHR or PHR certification and experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Physical RequirementsGeneral office environment with intensive computer work and extended use of the computer keyboard and mouse. This position requires the incumbent to grasp objects utilizing manual dexterity including hand/finger coordination. This position requires the incumbent to experience periods of prolonged sitting.
