This role owns the physical environment end to end: safety and security systems, building operations and appearance, vendor partnerships, preventive maintenance, and workspace planning.\nSuccess in this role is invisible. The building simply works, people feel safe and proud of where they work, and when the unexpected happens the team responds in a calm, organized, and protective way. The Facilities Manager makes that happen through strong systems, dependable relationships, and a proactive, service-minded approach.\nKey Responsibilities Essential functions of the role include:\nEnsure fire, smoke, and life-safety systems stay functional, code-compliant, and well-maintained, with clear emergency signage, evacuation plans, and communication processes that are simple, redundant, and able to scale as the company grows. Manage alarms, cameras, and an employee badging and access-control system, keeping buildings appropriately accessible during business hours and secured when closed, with a clear escalation chain that minimizes unnecessary after-hours calls.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with city, county, and local protective services by staying compliant with code and making effective useof the resources they offer.\nHold the everyday standard without fail - clean, well-supplied restrooms, professional grounds, parking, and signage and tidy interiors - so the space consistently reflects BGE's brand.\nKeep building systems and company vehicles in safe working order, maintain effective pest and rodent control, and ensure a dependable supply of operational needs such as parcels and USPS, trash, compost, and propane, with systems that sustain coverage when you are out.\nEstablish and run a preventive-maintenance cadence for HVAC, roofing, security, and fire systems, and conduct and document regular inspections to catch issues before they become problems.\nSource, negotiate, and manage outsourced service contracts, hold vendors accountable to required service levels, and track work orders and maintenance history to anticipate needs and control cost.\nPartner with workgroups, leaders, and Retail to plan evolving space needs, reduce clutter, and improve productivity and comfort, including hands-on setup such as assembling furniture and building cube pods, directly or by coordinating help.\nDevelop and manage facilities, budgets,track,and forecast spend,maintainpermits,and code compliance across all facilities, and support special projects as needed.\n\nRequired Qualifications 5+ years of facilities management or building operations experience, ideally across more than one site or building type (office and/or warehouse/industrial).\nWorking knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life-safety, and security systems.\nFamiliarity with commercial building codes, OSHA, and safety and accessibility regulations.\nDemonstrated vendor and contract management experience, including negotiating and holding service providers accountable.\nBudgeting and cost-management experience.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and locations at once.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization and with external partners.\nValid driver's license and ability to travel between BGE facilities.\nAvailability to respond to facility emergencies outside standard hours as needed.\nPreferred Qualifications Experience managing facilities in a multi-site or fast-growing organization.\nProficiencywith facilities management / CMMS (maintenance-tracking) software.\nExperience designing and running preventive maintenance programs.\nCertifications such as IFMA's Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP), and/or OSHA 30-Hour.\nBachelor's degree in facilities management, business, engineering, or a related field - or equivalent hands-on experience.\nCompensation and Benefits Final compensation will be based on job-related factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and location.\nBig Green Egg offers a competitive benefits package, which may include medical coverage, life insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off, employee discounts, and other benefits based on position type and eligibility.
