Accounting System Manager
Our client a prominent financial services firm is seeking an Accounting System Manager to lead infrastructure, automation, and operational strategy across its Private Fund and Business Development Company (BDC) accounting functions. This role is responsible for modernizing systems architecture, strengthening process governance, and building scalable solutions to support continued platform expansion. Position OverviewThis role will serve as the central connector between Fund Accounting, Technology, Data, and senior leadership. The Manager will drive system optimization initiatives, enhance reporting capabilities, and ensure accounting processes are designed to scale alongside fund growth.The ideal candidate combines deep fund accounting knowledge with automation expertise and a passion for continuous improvement.ResponsibilitiesSystems & Scalability StrategyDevelop and execute a long-term roadmap for accounting systems and automation initiativesDesign scalable infrastructure Evaluate existing workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement sustainable process enhancementsTeam Leadership & DevelopmentSupervise and mentor team members within the Project & Process functionEstablish clear performance standards and ensure strong documentation disciplineFoster development of both accounting expertise and technical skill setsProcess Governance & ControlsStandardize workflows across fund and BDC accounting functionsStrengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policiesDocument system architecture, process dependencies, and control frameworksAutomation & Data EnablementLead development of dashboards, reporting tools, and workflow automation solutionsDrive initiatives leveraging Power BI, Power Automate, and Power QueryCollaborate with Technology teams on system implementations, testing cycles, and enhancementsUtilize tools such as Python and VBA to reduce manual processes and improve efficiencyExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, MIS, or related field4–8+ years of experience within private equity, private credit, leveraged finance, or complex investment accounting environmentsDemonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferredStrong command of GAAP, fund structures, consolidations, and financial reportingTechnical CapabilitiesAdvanced Excel proficiency requiredExperience with Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Query strongly preferredWorking knowledge of Python and/or VBA preferredExperience working across integrated accounting and data systems in a multi-platform environment
