Lower Elementary Assistant Teacher (1st-3rd)

Description JOB SUMMARY: Adeline Montessori School is seeking a Lower Elementary Assistant Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year for students in 1st through 3rd grade. Job summary includes the ability to assist in the planning, organization and implementation of an appropriate instructional program in a Montessori elementary learning environment that guides and prepares students to become self-motivated through innate curiosity while developing critical thinking skills and diplomacy. Work is performed in conjunction with the Lead teacher and under the Principal. QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates will be licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) or licensable, and can demonstrate excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with families and faculty. Ideal candidates will have a clear understanding of Montessori philosophy, curriculum, implementation, and classroom management skills. Montessori Credentialing is not required for this position. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:Assists the Lead Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities and events guided by the Montessori Elementary philosophy:Interacts in a respectful and caring manner with the children by actively participating in their play and learning.Maintains a clean and safe environment for the children through general housekeeping.Assists the children in preparing snacks and lunches.Supervises the children in the classroom, playground, and during other planned activities. .Ensures that all state and local requirements are met for the supervision of the children.Assumes lead teaching responsibilities in the absence of the Lead Teacher.Communicate effectively and consistently with students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress and needs.Assists the Lead Teacher in identifying each child's development strengths and challenges, allowing the Lead Teacher to be the primary contact for parent communication.Assists the Lead Teacher in the updating and maintaining the information in the school's record keeping system for timely communication with parents.Participate in department, school, district, and family meetings, orientations, trainings, and professional development Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the followingDemonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgroundsEncourage family and community involvement, obtain information for families when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emailsParticipate in appropriate professional activities and professional developmentMeet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and stateMust have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basisAbility to establish and maintain cooperate, collaborative and effective working relationships with others
