Assistant Histology Technician

We are seeking an Assistant Histology Technician to join our Histology Team in Maryland Heights, MO.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesAssist in organizing of data packages, enter data into study tracking and SMSPull slides and organize materials for peer reviewsDocument all study and laboratory activities as required for compliancePerform preventative maintenance, monitoring, and calibration of laboratory equipment as assigned, troubleshooting issues as neededOperate and maintain slide stainer and coverslipperOperate and maintain tissue processorsPre-label tissue cassettes and slidesAssist in preparing forms / equipment logsPrepare blocks, slides and tissues for onsite archiveReceive incoming histology materials and purchased products as neededUnpack and examine histology samples/materials received, verify against packing slips, complete inventories/logs as necessary and place in established locationsMaintain Histology chemical/reagent/test article receipt logsLabel Histology supplies and maintain inventoriesPackage Necropsy materials and label boxes as requiredMaintain stock reagents, chemicals and materialsAssist in managing hazardous waste and central accumulation areaPerform general housekeeping related tasks as assignedFollow all company safety requirementsSkills And AbilitiesAble to read and interpret test results and instrument specificationsFollow SOPs and other applicable laboratory or company proceduresInteract with clients, other employees, and the community in a professional mannerEffective organizational, written, and oral communication skillsAbility to adhere to all company policies, safety regulations and proceduresMaintain confidential informationSupport and participate in other company initiatives as directedAbility to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishDemonstrate Inotiv Core Values and adhere to Code of Conduct Education And ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED, lab experience preferredExperience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Required experience must also reflect the Skills and Responsibilities outlined belowPhysical Activity and Working ConditionsWork is normally performed in a typical interior office or laboratory environmentProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerThe noise level is usually moderateRequires moderate physical activity with frequent talking, standing, walking and repetitive movement of hands and fingers, reaching and lifting 10 -50 pounds.Use of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) when required (i.e., able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required)This position will frequently be involved with sharp, solvents, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, flammable materials, and biohazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological material (which may include HPB positive specimens), immunization to Hepatitis B and/or other diseases may be a requirement.*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience.
