The organization offers opportunities to develop in both transportation operations and corporate finance within a growing logistics business.Role Description The Controller for the FedEx Linehaul Trucking Company at Friendship Logistics Inc is a full-time, on-site role based in Jonesboro, AR but operates out of terminals in Tennessee and Georgia.. This role oversees all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, cash flow monitoring, and month-end and year-end closing processes. The Controller prepares and analyzes financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and operational reports to support strategic decisions and cost control. Daily activities include reconciling accounts, tracking revenue and expenses by route or asset, managing asset and depreciation schedules, and ensuring accurate reporting of fuel, maintenance, and labor costs. The role also manages compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, coordinates with external accountants or auditors, and implements internal controls and financial policies tailored to a FedEx Ground linehaul environment. The Controller collaborates closely with ownership and operations leadership to provide financial insights, support contract and equipment decisions, and improve profitability.Qualifications Strong accounting and finance skills, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank and account reconciliations, and cash flow management.Experience establishing and maintaining internal controls, financial policies, and procedures, with attention to accuracy and regulatory compliance.Ability to analyze operational and cost data (e.g., fuel, maintenance, driver payroll, equipment leases) and translate findings into actionable recommendations.Comfort with accounting and office software (such as QuickBooks or similar platforms, spreadsheets, and reporting tools); ability to learn FedEx Ground and logistics-specific systems.Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced trucking and logistics environment.Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with ownership, operations managers, drivers, and external partners.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant experience in transportation, logistics, or small to mid-sized business accounting is highly desirable.Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, payroll and employment tax requirements, and basic understanding of trucking industry cost structures is a plus.
