As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of a hydraulic grapple or magnetic crane to load and unload containers and trailers and lift and move scrap metal of varying sizes and weights around the work area.\nThis position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.\nSA Recycling offers:\nCompetitive Pay\nComprehensive benefits including affordable medical options, dental and vision care\n401k with a Company Match\nWeekly Pay\nReferral Incentives\nCompany provided uniforms and PPE\nResponsibilities of a Material Handler\nBasic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation for processing.\nProvide a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.\nOperate a hydraulic grapple or magnetic crane to lift, sort, load or unload scrap metal and debris in preparation for processing.\nPerform daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.\nDetermine load weights and verify against lifting capacities to prevent overloads and dangerous situations.\nComply with all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.\nQualifications of a Material Handler\nHigh School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.\n1-year previous general labor in the scrap metal or construction industries preferred.\nPrevious Hydraulic Crane experience preferred.\nBi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.\nAbility to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.\nAbility to learn new tasks as assigned required.\nPhysical Requirements\nWork Environment: Scrap metal Recycling and shredder yard\nEquipment & Tools: Shredder & other metal processing equipment, Hoists, hydraulic motors, mechanics tools\nPhysical Demand Level: Light to Moderate\nWork Capacity: Shredder Operator _ Work Capacity\nSensory Demands: Hearing, vision, touch, smell and taste\nHand Movements: Repetitive motions, gripping\n\nPLEASE NOTE: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
