In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and using moderately complex aviation data processing software which supports charting solutions designed for Garmin products and/or applications.\nResponsibilities:\nEssential Functions\nCreates and executes designs for small sets of new functionalities as part of a software project using Python, C and C++ or other selected languages\nUtilizes software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process\nMay perform as a technical leader or Lead Software Engineer for derivative software project\nCollaborates and adds value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions\nProvides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques\nPerforms technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems\nContributes to technical research on new technologies\nEstimates level of effort, evaluates new options of similar technology, offers suggestions to improve processes, and provides feedback on some electrical design aspects\nServes as a mentor to less experienced software engineers (Software Engineer 1)\nQualifications:\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience\nExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)\nDemonstrated proficiency and experience necessary to develop moderately complex software in Python, C and C++ or other selected languages\nProficient knowledge, utilization and mastery of relevant software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators and logic analyzers)\nDesired Qualifications\nOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)\nExperience with relational databases\nStrong technical writing skills, such as reading regulatory documents and writing engineering specifications\nBackground with unit or system software testing\nAbility to follow detailed SOPs, process complex information, and bring creative solutions within regulatory framework while adhering to firm industry deadlines\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
