Central Union Mission has been serving the homeless and low-income families in the DC area for 143 years. The Mission has some of the most strategic programs in the nation for combatting homelessness and poverty. The Program Coordinator will help ensure seamless delivery of services to those we serve in Northern Virginia.\n\nCORE RESPONSIBILITIES (80%):\nAssist with food distributions and announcements.\nAssist with facility management\nCommunicate program information and disseminate materials and flyers related to the Mission and special events.\nPerform administrative procedures in the office related to checking in guests.\nCoordinate program details with partner organizations, new and ongoing.\nKeep program calendar current with upcoming programs.\nRecruit, schedule, train and check-in volunteers.\nAssist with translation\nSign up new program participants and assist with referrals.\nReceive gift-in-kind donations and provide appropriate documentation.\nOrganize and file physical and electronic Mission materials and program information.\nClean up and maintain the office and food pantry.\nKeep track of weekly food and clothing distributions.\nProvide tours to orient and welcome visitors, partners, and clients.\nAssist with and coordinate special events\nOther duties as assigned by the site director and other Mission leadership.\nOTHER (20%)\nAssist with unloading food and clothing donations.\nServe as driver’s helper on food and clothing pick-ups.\nREQUIREMENTS:\nAuthorized to work in the United States\nAbility to write and speak fluently in both English and Spanish\nDemonstrate a Christ-like attitude.\nPolite and kind demeanor\nAbility to communicate program information, policy and procedures.\nWork as a team player assisting co-workers, volunteers and program participants.\nProblem solving skills with volunteer, partner, and client relations and with the facility and logistics.\nBasic math and writing skills.\nAbility to lift 40+ pounds.\nBasic computer proficiency\nReliable and dependable.\nEDUCATION REQUIREMNTS:\nBachelors Degree in a related discipline, or similar\nCustomer service training preferred\n2 years’ work experience in a service-related position\nOTHER REQUIREMENTS:\nPhysical Demands: The position is generally physically active in nature and require standing, walking, lifting and ability to kneel down, stoop, bend at the waist, twist at the waist and reach, or sit for long periods of time.\nAbility to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, printers, multi-line phone systems).\nMust have good vision to read a computer screen.\nAbility to hear and speak to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.\nManual dexterity of hands and fingers to include repetitive keyboarding, grasping, and reaching to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and/or standard office equipment.\nAgreement with and commitment to Central Union Mission’s mission and statement of faith required.
