Financial Controller $150k and up

Whitman Advisory is working on a confidential search for a Financial Controller for a partner company.This role is ideal for an experienced accounting leader who understands the pace, accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail required in a high-end consumer, luxury retail, jewelry, fashion, or premium goods environment.The Financial Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and assist with overseeing the accounting team, managing daily accounting operations, and supporting financial reporting, analysis, and compliance.Key Responsibilities:Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functionsManage daily accounting processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactionsLead and support the month-end close processAssist with monthly and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAPSupport monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax filingsAnalyze revenue, expenses, and budget variances, and identify key business driversManage bookkeeping functions, including general ledger, AP, AR, and payrollMaintain accurate supporting documentation for financial transactionsPrepare routine and ad hoc financial reports for management reviewSupport operational decision-making through accurate financial analysisAssist the CFO with process improvements, internal controls, and accounting team oversightPerform other related duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required5–10 years of accounting and accounting management experiencePrior experience in luxury goods, jewelry, high-end retail, fashion, beauty, consumer products, or premium/luxury brand environments required or strongly preferredStrong understanding of GAAPExperience supervising a small accounting teamAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsExperience with QuickBooks requiredExperience with Dynamics 365 Business Central strongly preferredStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentHigh level of accuracy, discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail
