Physical Therapist
DescriptionThe Neenah Joint School District is now accepting applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Physical Therapist to serve multiple school locations during the 2026-2027 school year. The Physical Therapist will provide services to students across the K-12 setting, supporting their access to and success within the educational environment. The start date is to be determined.We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Physical Therapist to join our educational team. The Physical Therapist will work directly with students to improve their mobility, strength, and overall physical function, enabling them to access the educational environment and participate fully in school activities. This role involves collaborating with physical therapy assistants, teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop individualized treatment plans for students with physical disabilities or movement disorders.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assess and evaluate students referred to for physical therapy services, including motor skills, mobility, and functional abilities.Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Program (IEP)-based therapy plans that target students' specific physical goals and needs.Provide direct physical therapy services, including exercises, mobility training, strengthening techniques, and assistive technology.Work closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and school personnel to integrate physical therapy goals into daily activities and routines.Educate and provide support to parents and caregivers, helping them implement strategies at home to support their child's physical development.Collaborate with other professionals (e.g., occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and school psychologists) to ensure a holistic, team-based approach to student care.Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, offering expertise on physical therapy needs and providing progress updates.Monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as necessary to ensure positive outcomes.Provide training and education to school staff on physical health, mobility, and safety considerations for students with disabilities.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of therapy sessions, progress reports, and IEP updates in compliance with Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) regulations and school policies.Stay informed on state and federal regulations concerning school-based physical therapy services, including Medicaid billing practices and IEP requirements Qualifications:Master's or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.Valid Physical Therapy license in Wisconsin, with eligibility for certification as a school-based physical therapist.Experience working with children, particularly in a school setting, is preferred.Familiarity with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) guidelines, special education laws, and the IEP process.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.Ability to work independently and manage a caseload of students.Knowledge of various physical disabilities and developmental delays in children.Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment for students with physical disabilities (preferred).Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting, bending, and assisting students with mobility needs. Working Conditions:Ability to travel between schools within the Neenah Joint School District as needed.Work may require travel among district buildings in various weather conditions.Work is typically performed in safe and comfortable school environments with minimal exposure to environmental risks.
