This role combines hands-on carpentry with field leadership and includes intentional overlap with light superintendent duties on certain jobs. The right candidate can run day-to-day work, guide crews, coordinate short-term jobsite needs, and help keep projects moving with professionalism and consistency. This is a key field role for someone who knows how to build and knows how to lead.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform advanced rough and finish carpentry with precision and consistency\nLead day-to-day field operations across one or more active job sites\nAssign tasks, guide crew members, and track daily progress\nMentor journeymen and apprentices while supporting a positive team culture\nCoordinate short-term work with subcontractors within a 1-3 week planning window\nProcure rough materials and ensure timely delivery to the site\nSchedule, prepare for, and run inspections for assigned scopes\nComplete daily logs and photo documentation using company software\nCommunicate field conditions, progress, and material needs to the PM or superintendent\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite environment\nQualifications\n10 or more years of carpentry experience in residential construction\nHigh-end residential remodel or custom home experience strongly preferred\nStrong mastery of rough carpentry, layout, envelope work, and finish carpentry\nAbility to lead field execution across multiple small to mid-size projects\nExperience coordinating subcontractors and managing short-term project flow\nAbility to confidently schedule and run inspections\nStrong plan-reading and problem-solving skills\nStrong leadership, communication, and mentorship ability\nMust be able to provide standard personal carpentry hand tools used in daily work\nValid California driver's license and reliable personal transportation\nPay and Benefits\nFull-time, W-2 Employee\nPay: $55 to $65 per hour, based on experience for Lead Carpenters\nPaid time off\nPaid holidays\nHealth insurance contribution\nCar allowance\nPhone allowance\n$500 annual reimbursement for tools, continuing education, or professional development\nSchedule: Monday-Friday, typical construction-site hours; occasional early starts or overtime based on project needs\nTravel: Local travel between Bay Area job sites required\nProbation Period: 90-day probation period. During this period, employees will receive hourly pay along with sick leave, cell phone, and auto allowance.
