The successful candidate will:Conduct initial proof-of-concept experimentsBuild and characterize prototypesDevelop and document processes and toolingAssist in transferring products to manufacturing, including training of operatorsMaintain equipment, organize materials and supplies, and ensure safe operation of development labsTroubleshoot problems in the development lab and the factoryDesired QualificationsAssociates Degree or higher in lasers, optics, electronics, or another engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in related technologiesExperience with lasers, optics, and fibersExperience with tools and equipment for fiber processing and inspectionExperience supporting engineers working with lasers, fiber optics, electro-optic or opto-mechanical devices, or electronicsMeticulous attention to detail, highly organized, self-motivatedExperience with electronics and test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power meters, CCD cameras or beam profilers, spectrum analyzers, etc.Good written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated problem-solving skillsFamiliarity with mechanical drawings and basic toolingExperience with Excel and data-analysis softwareTraining or experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control, and Design of ExperimentsNLIGHT Is Proud To Offer Comprehensive COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSStarting level and pay depends on qualifications:Engineering Technician I: $23.41 - $29.30 per hour Engineering Technician II: $25.49 - $33.10 per hour Senior Engineering Technician III: $27.57 - $35.80 per hour Target Cash Bonus with potential payout of up to 2% of earned wages 120 hours of paid Vacation per year, plus paid Sick Leave and 10 paid Holidays Eligible for health benefits on the 1st day of the month after your start dateMedical, Dental and Vision Benefits, including prescription and orthodontia with employee-paid premiums as low as $40.00 per pay periodCompany paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, and Life & AD&D InsuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramAflac Supplemental InsuranceFlexible Spending and Health Savings AccountsEmployee Stock Purchase Plan401(k) with company match and immediate vestingJury Duty and Bereavement Leave PayTuition Assistance Pet InsurancenLIGHT is subject to US Export Control regulations.
