JobID: 10309 Position Type: Administration/Assistant Superintendent Date Posted: 1/30/2026 Location: District Office Date Available: 07/01/2026 Closing Date: 02/13/2026 TOOELE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT Assistant Superintendent – Operations & Necessarily Existing Small Schools Position Purpose The Assistant Superintendent – Operations supports the Superintendent in leading and managing all non-academic district operational systems, including Technology, Facilities & Maintenance, Transportation, Child Nutrition, Safety & Security, and other support services. This position ensures the efficient, safe, and effective functioning of district operations to support student learning and staff success. The assistant superintendent oversees Necessarily Existing Small School (NESS) administrators as their direct supervisor. Essential Functions District Collaboration and Strategic Leadership Collaborate with all district departments to provide targeted, integrated support for assigned schools and ensure operational alignment. Work with other directors to implement policies that foster inclusive learning environments. Engage professional staff in developing, communicating, and monitoring the continuous improvement process based on analyzed data about learners' academic and non-academic needs. Interpret and implement district policies as they relate to department and school functions, ensuring consistency across the elementary level. Facilitate collaborative opportunities for school leaders to learn from one another and share best practices across various school sites. Instructional Leadership and Coaching Coach school principals and leadership teams to develop their capacity to implement district-wide priorities and improve school culture. Use data and input from a variety of sources to make informed decisions for learners' and staff members' growth and well-being, taking into account district history and future possibilities. Ensure professional staff receive personalized mentoring and coaching to strengthen their practice, focusing on improving skills to better address learners' needs. Lead administrator teams in conducting classroom observations to calibrate skills and provide actionable, growth-oriented feedback. Assist school leaders in building staff capacity to promote standards-driven instruction and growth within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Ensure students excel across subject areas by monitoring performance metrics and coaching observations. Operational Leadership Provides leadership and oversight for all district operational departments, including Technology, Operations, Transportation, Facilities, Maintenance, Child Nutrition, and Safety & Security. Ensures safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations across all district buildings and support departments. Develops, implements, and monitors long-range operational plans aligned with district strategic goals. Leads districtwide safety initiatives, emergency preparedness, and incident response planning. Supervises operational methods, processes, and procedures for improved effectiveness and service quality. Collaborates with Academic leadership to ensure operational technology systems effectively support instructional goals. Ensures all operational departments maintain high standards of customer service and efficiency. Budgeting & Resource Management Develops and monitors operational budgets for all departments under the Operations Division. Supports grant writing, capital budgeting, and resource allocation to maintain and improve district infrastructure. Ensures responsible stewardship of district resources, assets, and operational expenditures. Collaboration & Leadership Serves as a key member of the Superintendent's Executive Staff. Works closely with principals, directors, and district leaders to align operations with school needs. Supervises and evaluates certified and classified staff within operational departments. Represents the district with government agencies, contractors, and community stakeholders. Attends all Board meetings and prepares operational reports or recommendations requiring Board action. Other Responsibilities Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to all operational areas. Maintains strong public relations and community communication regarding district operations and safety. Responds to emergencies or after-hours operational issues requiring immediate attention. Participates in leadership meetings and districtwide initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned by the Board of Education. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of school district operational systems, including facilities, transportation, technology infrastructure, maintenance, and child nutrition. Understanding of state and federal regulations related to safety, construction, transportation, and data systems. Skill in leading large-scale operational projects, capital improvements, and technology initiatives. Ability to analyze operational data and use findings to improve efficiency, safety, and service quality. Strong communication and public presentation skills. Ability to supervise and evaluate operational departments with clarity, accountability, and high expectations. Skill in emergency planning, crisis management, and incident response structures. Ability to build strong relationships with staff, administrators, community partners, and public agencies. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and large-scale initiatives. Capacity to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate professional ethics. Ability to align operational priorities with district strategic goals. Education Master's degree or advanced degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Education Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. - Experience Building-level or district-level leadership experience. Experience in school district operations, facilities management, transportation services, or technology systems preferred.
