This role will focus heavily on building and optimizing real-time chat experiences and supporting a broad range of chat use cases across the enterprise.\nThe Staff Software Development Engineer will architect and develop reusable UI frameworks, enhance platform-wide capabilities, and collaborate closely with Product, Backend, Architecture, and UX teams to deliver seamless, performant, and reliable chat solutions used across multiple business lines.\nWork Breakdown Structure for This Role\nHands-On Engineering – 75%\nDevelop and enhance real-time UI components for platform products and reusable Angular frameworks.\nContribute to DevOps activities, including CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment support.\nSupport cloud integrations, configuration, and troubleshooting within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for UI and platform product services.\nCross-Functional Collaboration – 25%\nPartner with Product to refine requirements, provide estimates, and align on roadmap priorities.\nWork with Architecture to ensure front-end solutions align with enterprise platform standards.\nCollaborate with Design to implement accessible, user-centered, and pixel-perfect interfaces.\nEngage with engineering peers through code reviews, mentoring, and cross-team coordination.\nRequired Qualifications\n10 + years of front-end/UI development experience.\nExpert-level proficiency in Angular (Angular 10+), TypeScript, RxJS, HTML5, and CSS3/SASS.\nStrong experience designing large-scale Angular component libraries and design systems.\nExperience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, code generation, automated test generation).\nExperience integrating or consuming AI/ML-powered APIs (e.g., NLP services, chat intelligence, recommendation APIs).\nHands-on experience building platform products and shared UI frameworks.\nDeep understanding of modern state management patterns.\nExperience integrating REST APIs and WebSockets for real-time features.\nStrong knowledge of browser behavior, performance optimization, and responsive design.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with GraphQL.\nExperience leveraging container-based technologies.\nExperience with unit, integration, and functional testing frameworks.\nBackground working with complex systems and solving highly analytical problems.\nExperience implementing AI-based features in UI, such as smart suggestions, automated chat insights, or generative UI enhancements.\nFamiliarity with LLM concepts and prompt engineering for building intelligent chat & search experience components.\nExperience with cloud-hosted AI services (Google Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI, etc.).\nEducation\nBachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field-or equivalent relevant experience\nPay Range\nThe typical pay range for this role is:\n$106,605.00 - $284,280.00\n\nThis pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
