SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant at Bethany Middle School. This full-time position involves supporting students with diverse learning needs in a middle school setting. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Special Education Teacher to implement individualized education plans (IEPs), foster an inclusive classroom environment, and promote the academic and social development of students with disabilities.Responsibilities- Assist the Special Education Teacher in implementing instructional activities and lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities.- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students during classroom activities, ensuring they understand and engage with the material.- Help monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to the teacher regarding individual student needs and achievements.- Support students in developing social skills and appropriate classroom behavior, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.- Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources to enhance learning experiences.- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and attendance as required.- Assist with the implementation of accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs.- Provide support during transitions between classes, lunch, and other activities to ensure student safety and engagement.- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices in special education and support strategies.Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree or higher in education, special education, or a related field is preferred.- Previous experience working with students with disabilities, particularly in a middle school setting, is highly desirable.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from the Special Education Teacher.- Familiarity with IEPs and special education laws and regulations is a plus.- Basic computer skills and proficiency in using educational technology and software.- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon employment.- Background check clearance and any additional state or district requirements for working in a school setting.
