If you want to work with the most talented people on Earth furthering space exploration for humanity, come join us.\nVast is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Security, reporting to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.\nThis will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.\nResponsibilities:\nWork with team to design, implement, and maintain a wide variety of backends, tools, and pipelines directly in support of Vast’s mission-critical security services.\nPartner with various engineering teams to assist in the implementation and design of their security-sensitive features and services.\nInfluence and adopt practices and patterns for security and software that will scale to what will eventually become a very large codebase and team.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in computer science, math, or other engineering discipline.\n6+ years experience with building security services and configurations (i.e. IAM, short-lived certificates, API security).\nDeep security knowledge in one or more domains (i.e. cryptography, network security, infrastructure security).\nDevelopment experience in any modern programming language (including but not limited to Python, C++, Rust, Go).\nExperience building, shipping, and supporting security applications in the cloud.\nProficiency using the command line, writing shell scripts, and an understanding of the GNU/Linux operating system.\nPreferred Skills & Experience:\nExperience working on ambiguous problems.\nProduction DevOps experience (Docker and K8s preferred).\nExperience working with multiple programming languages.\nExperience with API Design.\nDeep security knowledge in one or more domains.\nConfident communicator, both written and verbal.\nCollaborative mindset.\nProblem solver with a bias for action.\nPay Range:\nSenior Security Software Engineer - $155,000 - $196,000\nSalary Range: California\n$155,000 - $196,000 USD\nCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS\nBase salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package.
