The Maintenance Planner (Surface) will perform planning and support functions necessary to maintain major surface mining equipment. They will schedule and plan short to medium term maintenance for all mobile plant and equipment on site to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specification to ensure the equipment fleet achieves maximum availability in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nPlanning & Scheduling\nProduce, review and maintain rolling monthly, quarterly and annual plans as well as equipment specifications, tyres and undercarriage tracking files\nMaintain currency and accuracy of equipment maintenance history, work orders, job records database and technical information on processes, plant and equipment\nIdentify potential work using an effective condition monitoring program and financial package based work programs and provide guidance and support to the project manager and supervisor\nFinance\nEnsure that work planned is completed within allowed budget and resources by cost effective use of subcontractors to maintain and service mobile plant and ancillary equipment\nAssist with the procurement and freight of parts and services and ensure full reliability of parts and equipment is retained while stored, only using approved suppliers and hire equipment\nMaintain accurate and effective costing reporting as well as support documentation and ensure all completed work orders are closed out\nIdentify project-based opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs to increase effectiveness and efficiency\nMaintenance & Reliability\nUtilize predictive maintenance processes to raise re-work requests and organise any additional maintenance requirements\nEnsure all materials, parts, personnel, tools, permits and equipment is available for execution when required by the plan\nReview and audit mechanical repairs and services to ensure compliance with site maintenance schemes\nReview and report on planning and scheduling, equipment reliability and maintenance department performance\nManage tire life cycle\nSafety, Environment & Community\nAssist in the implementation and compliance of HSE plans to ensure safe and sustainable mobile plant and ancillary equipment\nProvide expert advice in all incident investigations\nRelationship Management\nLiaise with all internal stakeholders to enhance coordination between the maintenance department, mine leadership, and client groups and minimize interruptions to operations by maintaining strong working relationships with relevant personnel\nCommunicate detailed maintenance plans for scheduled maintenance to maintenance department, mine leadership, and client groups on a weekly basis\nPromote prosperous healthy client relationships to network and identify new business opportunities\nJOB REQUIREMENTS\nMinimum of 5 years experience in mobile equipment maintenance\nMinimum of 2 years experience in surface/open pit equipment planning, mining maintenance activities\nFamiliar with Office 365, including strong Excel skills and MS Project skills\nExperience with SAP or JD Edwards ERP software\nUse of Cat SIS and other OEM parts manuals\nStrong written and oral communication skills\nAuthorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required\nMust be fluent in the English language\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nAble to lift 50 pounds\nAble to work in winter and summer conditions with temperatures below zero degrees and 110 degrees Fahrenheit\nAble to stand for extended periods of time, walk long distances, and climb ladders\nAble to work for extended 12-hour shifts\nNo auditory or visual impairments restricting the ability to see distances while driving and clearly discern auditory and visual alerts/alarms (not including color blindness)\nQuick response/reaction times\nArm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity\n\nEDUCATION\nTrade or tertiary qualification in mechanical or electrical\nTraining and/or experience in maintenance management and/or maintenance planning processes\nVocational training in mechanics, engineering, or related field\n\nWHAT WE OFFER\nA work culture that follows our company values of integrity, accountability, and innovation, all underpinned by safety\nA permanent position working directly for Thiess, the world's largest mining services provider\nA competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with annual bonuses\nComprehensive medical benefits including private health insurance\n401k retirement savings benefit with employer matching contributions\nCareer development and opportunities domestic within the US, and potentially international\nLeave for all of life's reasons\n\nADDITIONAL INFORMATION\nAt Thiess we have a One HSE culture and want to ensure everyone is safe every day: employees, families and society.
