This position will guide the work of paid high school interns who will develop, implement, and evolve their school community’s climate action plan.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nLead work-based learning program in Porterville Unified School District’s Pathways Department\nRecruit high school students to participate in the program\nProvide orientation and ongoing training for student interns to help them build knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement climate action projects in their school district\nAssign interns projects and and provide ongoing mentoring and support\nConduct program evaluations and provide feedback to support intern’s learning and success\nDevelop green careers extended learning opportunities for elementary and middle schools\nServe as a PUSD Pathways Department team member, attending weekly team meetings, serving as a liaison with industry and community partners, and advising on the integration of green careers into relevant district career pathways\nLead the implementation of district climate action plans, which encompasses the key areas of building decarbonization, transportation, food, water, and waste\nCreate work plans and project manage implementation\nMonitor and track energy usage at Porterville Unified School District\nPresent to district leadership (assistant superintendent, director of facilities, and assistant director of facilities) on energy performance on a monthly basis\nGather input from teachers, administrators, maintenance staff, parents, and community and industry partners to ensure community needs and priorities are reflected in the design and implementation of climate action plans and projects\nSupport the growth of CAPS programs\nAssist with recruiting and onboard new school districts\nAssist with identifying funding opportunities and developing proposals to support the implementation of climate action plans\nDocument best practices to help CAPS scale programs\nQualifications:\nDemonstrated commitment to operationalizing equity, inclusion, justice, and antiracist values and practices\nExceptional educator with success in developing career and technical education programs that focus on energy systems, environmental sustainability, or environmental justice\nProven ability to manage, collaborate, and communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including students, district administrators, curriculum and instruction personnel, and facilities staff; preference will be given to individuals who have experience bringing groups together to support districtwide planning and the ability to affect change at the school district level\nStrong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail\nOutstanding analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills\nAbility to be effective independently in a remote environment, while also being a resourceful team-player\nGrant writing and proposal development experience is desirable\nProficiency with Google Docs and Microsoft Office Suite\nProficiency with EPA’s Energy Star Portfolio Manager a plus\nExperience and Education: Candidates must have a minimum of three years of applicable teaching experience in K–12 schools or equivalent setting and experience in managing and developing climate, environment, or sustainability education programs.
